I've seen this requested before, and I'm currently working on it now, but before I get too far I would like to know exactly what everyone is looking for in this hack? How much intergration are you looking for between the two scripts?

Here is what I have done so far. The user registration from Mambo has been removed and the VB registration form is used instead. This allows new users to sign up one time for both scripts. It also allows for the use of the image verification option which Mambo doesn't have. When a new user signs up they are registered for both VB and Mambo. In VB they are assigned to whatever user group you have set up for new users. In Mambo they are set up as "Authors" so that all members of your community will be able to submitt new articles. These new articles must then be approved before they are added to the site.

I still have a few things let to do before I release the script, but it should be ready by the end of the week. If you have any suggestions, comments, or ideas, please let me know and I'll see if I can get them into the first release.

If possible I would like to see more control over Mambo users, as the default Mambo user system is very lacking.

If there is no time for that, it is not a huge deal.

Thanks! I can't wait to see this.

Heaps of stuff could be done

As above, the whole user system for vb could be implemented
As could the styles and templating system

Throw in coppermine for a haul ass image system (with a similar integration to vb like they did for iB)

Maybey a file upload part as well.

Back to the vb integration after getting sidetracked (slight understatement :P) the question is :
do you want to intergrate vb to mambo
or
do you want to intergrate mambo to vb

Cause the sky is basically the limit
And Im very keen to see how this one progresses

Whoa... Slow down. I'm just trying to get the first release out the door first. :nervous:

Here is what I have planned so far. For the 1.xx series I want to intergrate the users and user registration of the two scripts. I will also replace the user login and user menu in Mambo to use vB. There will also be a few new blocks for Mambo to pull the latest posts, etc and place them on the Mambo front page. One of the things I want to bring over from Mambo and intergrate into vB is the ability to download a post as a PDF file. Mambo already has this feature for its articles, and since the site I am developing this for is a "how to" site it would really be a big help is users could download and entire thread as a single PDF file. As far as the user system, that will have to wait for version 2.xx.

For version 2.xx I want to eliminate the Mambo admin panel and move everything over to the vB admin panel. There will also be more user intergration in this series as I start moving the Mambo permission system to the vB system. I'm not sure about porting the template engine from Mambo over to vB, as this would pretty much require a complete rewrite of Mambo.

One of the things that I really like about using Mambo for this project is that I can make all of the changes to the Mambo core files that I need, package them up, and you can download the already modified script. Then all you would need to edit would be your vB files. This should make installing it much easier.

Hi,

I'm running a small unofficial supportsite for Scandinavian Mambo Open Source users:

http://www.mambosupport.net

I'm really happy to see that someone wants to integrate MOS with VB

Just awsome... ;)

Are you integrating this (in one of the position blocks in MOS) or only on the frontpage?

Can't wait to get my hands on the first release.

does this mod allow a forum to act as the comments sytem for articles? first post of the thread would be a portion of the article, with a link to the whole article. the rest of the thread would be for comments on the article (accessable from both the forums and linked to from each article)?

if so, pretty damn cool :)

Here's an integration suggestion:

Add a vB thread admin option, to post the first post in the thread as an article.

This can be quite handy, when a post is worth publishing as an article.

That is one of the things that I want to add. The Mambo core come with it's own internal comment system, but I would like to change this to use a vB forum. If I don't get this added in the release I'm sure that someone will make a hack for it.

i'm pretty sure that there was a hack that allowed this, but it hasn't been ported for vb3 as far as i know. anyway, keep up the good work :)

I emailed you. The Beta Testers now have access to the first release. There should be a public release later this week.

The code is now finished. I've got to write another installer script and write the documentation, but there will be a public release on Friday.

The current version is: Mambo Open Source 4.5 (Stable 1.0.7)

-What version are you using?
-Is there a script available for current mambo sites for user integration?

Hey Brewer.... show your post at http://www.mambers.com/showthread.php?t=270&highlight=vbulletin but it appears that the mambovb site is not functioning, hope all is well as I would really like to use this. Any updates would be great

Not sure it if would be possible, but I had found a site that pulls a bunch of user/board info and puts it on the front page (http://www.trade2win.com/) I like the XXXX numbers or reg users, top post and a avatar display (if logged in) would be nice.

Oh, would be it possible to use vb breadcrumb thoughout the whole site? Mambos pathway (breadcrumb) lacks a little

Anyone know where I can find another module for Mambo that shows the latest posts. I can't get the vBlastposts to work (I found here: http://www.mambers.com/showthread.php?t=270&highlight=vbulletin)

All I want is to be able to show the latest vBulletin posts on my frontpage in Mambo.

I'm also looking for a possible integration "tool" for mambo atm.

Unfortunatelly the site www.mambovb.com isn't working proper...
Parse error: parse error in /home/mambovb/public_html/index.php on line 2

Hope to find something later on...

Well, finally a full integration of vBulletin and Mambo, and it does not cost an arm and a leg.

These guys (ipmambo, viet & koudnashi) have performed an excellent job of linking Mambo and vB together, using the vB user registration panel as the place to register users through.

Just what I wanted. And you can find out more here http://www.bbpixel.com, and tell them I sent you!

They were quick, efficient and very professional in thier implementation of it and they resolved problems equally quickly.

I paid the for the full monty, they did everything including customizing the vB template to suit my mambo front end. Cost around 80 US$ and from my point of view well worth it.

They also offer other options including a 'do-it-yourself' option.

If you want Mambo and vBulletin, or Mambo and Invision Power Board integration, these are the guys to go for.

Well done, and thank you.

The demo site can be found here: http://www.breath-work.info/mambovb

What shall vBridge do to impress you? Cooking?

Looking on the feature of bbpixel there is nothing which is not included in vBridge and cost nothing. By bbpixel you have to pay for the script and if you want to import user you have to pay extra for the importscript.

vbridge is not real integration but synching. My Photopost keeps a separate db but uses vb's user table to authenticate.

Drupal does something similar using vb login, sessions, user groups, even theme without any code changes to vBulletin.
