Posting to VB-3 via email?

Can't seem to find this hack listed anywhere, but can VB-3 be fully intgrated with email so that users can receive posts by email and reply by email? Sort of like the Topica.com messaging system. I have a group with a few die-hards that refuse to migrate to VB if they can't get the same mail functionality that they get elsewhere.
