Remove usergroup from showing in members list

Is there a hack available or can someone tell me what to do to remove a usergroup from showing up in the memberlist, specifically my spammer/ banned members. I'm on vB2.3.4

when editing/creating a usergroup there should be an option that says to show the usergroup on the forum leaders list.

he said he's on vb2.3.4
vb3 has it on default but not vb2.
