Basiclly I am looking for an extremely stable gallery hack that when clicking on a new thread for it it shows gallery thumbnails similar to where the msg would be and only allows users that are allowed to view that forums messages as in not allowing people to just type in where the image is located in the url etc. Any help would be great.

from what i understood of your post, the best currently available gallery add-on is photopost www.photopostdev.com

While it's not to cheap, I have to agree, photopost is great. :)

I use it as well, there is a vb to photopost integration that has the gallery show up in a forum like display on your vb forumhome page.

Shows, last picture, last comment, and handles permissions very well. For example, if you make a specific gallery category only viewable by x usergroup, in the forumhome hack, that gallery category will only show up for x usergroup. :)

Hi!

I'm writing a vBulletin 3 gallery addon at the moment. When I've finished it and tested it on my live forums, I'll release it here at vb.org for free.

Slated feaures include:

+ Comment system
+ Ratings system (Maybe)
+ Gallery categories
+ Ability to list items by user, giving each member their own gallery
+ Each user can create a title and description for their gallery
+ Uses the existing forum system to organise gallery items and comments, making it very easy to moderate or set permissions......

Here's a screenshot of the alpha development to give you a taster (no control buttons yet, but that will come)... :)

OakGallery is great, but it doesn't integrate into VB3 (correct me if I'm wrong). That's why I've been writing my own gallery system. :)

I will talk to Åke to fix the vb3-support and hopefully he can fix it some days. He can do the testings against my server.

djnoz, maybe its only to change some stuff in getuser-vbulletin.php to get OakGallery working with vb3 ? Is global.php still in vb3 ? Is the tables like before ? Im thinking of these rows:

chdir($cfgForumDir);
require('./global.php');
chdir($cfgGalleryDir);

$forumUserID = $bbuserinfo[userid];
$forumUserName = $bbuserinfo[username];

I have not upgraded to vb 3.0 yet and cannot test it.

Photopost is great. Not cheap, but great. You get what you pay for.

I'm sure it's possible to integrate OakGallery with VB3, however I have no experience with that particular system and therefore don't want to attempt to integrate. Another point is that I'm already through about 2/3rds through coding my own system, and it's really starting to take shape. I do not want to abandon my work.

Hi, when do you expect to release this?

Would be great you include that rating system, something similar to a poll where you can see votes (+how many votes for each rating etc)

When released, for me one of the best hacks here

I have vb3 and photopost 4.7 on integrated on my site, it wasn't cheap but it works great, althought I haven't had much luck with support.

Yes I would like to, just need some people to post on my site some input of what to toss in it, other wise it will be a boring beta lmao.

I really don't get what you guys see in photopost.
I can't say I hate it, but I do hate the price on it.

I use 4images. While the vb3 integration isn't THAT great right now, it works 98% of the way and it didn't cost me however much photopost is charging now.

The only downside about coppermine is it's very confusing to skin. :ninja:

I hated coppermine IMO it is junk, so is 4 images for intergration.

If not for fact I can code, I would buy another photopost , all be it a high price it is good software.

But I am more focussed on my own, for a couple reasons ;)

yep my main concern is intergration
and currently photopost provides the best example of intergration

i got a link in users profile and postbit via if condition to the members gallery
and i got the navbar working in the gallery as i do in the main forum
and those are just easy things if there was a gallery designed just for Vbulletin
and those i had to do quite a bit of looking on Photopost dev to get going

Ya is why I building mine all around vb, this way everything you can think of is possible in the intergration. And easier.

Where PP is good and standalone, their main focus is stand alone, intergration is secondary.

I have to agree, I wanted a gallery integration for my payed membership members, so I tried the free ones first: coppermine, 4images,.... I had nothing but troubles and the integration is bad.

I am now very close to buying photopost pro, but there is now doubt because of the upcoming release of gallery hacks here.

What do you recommend, should I wait?

I want an integration like seen on http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/index.php

So with a gallery icon in the postbit, for users who have a gallery (only payed memberships)

What are some of the problems you guys had with 4images integration?

I've had none on my half, but then again, my site hasn't launched yet. :)

Templates blah, making it match the site, I got sick of it at that point alone.

Well the templates didn't even save when I edit them. Another example; I want to have full width (100%) gallery but then you have to manually change evry one of the templates. Just bad coding imo.

Wow, really? I actually find 4images to be very very easy to skin. I can make mine look like vB in prob 15 minutes max.. Probably cause I have been working with it quite a bit.

Coppermine was very confusing for me to skin, and I haven't tried photopost as I don't really have the money to. I wish they had some sort of a trial or something, cause I'd like to see why they're talked so highly about.
