Shame. Jelsoft in a matter of weeks have managed to degrade my rating of the company.
Jelsoft, no longer #1. Time to reconsider forum software when its time to renew, various events such as the time VB3 took, to importers and now this. I think a hack site without any direct Jelsoft input is needed.
Shame....

While I will remain neutral in my comments, I will say that there are many sites that offer code modification of vBulletin discussion. This is the only official one that assures only licensed users can participate.

Yes, I wonder why.
As for piracy, a quick search on a popular P2P app shows cracked vb3, massive zipfiles full of hacks etc. So while the attempts to stop pirated users on this site are pretty good they are at the end of the day useless apart from stopping pirate users getting support.
I'm all for stopping piracy, but I really think Jelsoft have to cut back on there control of this site. It amazes me Jelsoft cannot see how much they are annoying people these days, did anyone not see the +++++fest caused over importers over at vb.com?
While it may have been true a year or so ago that nothing could beat VB, today free boards are getting close if not ahead of Jelsoft. Sad day indeed. I'm not gonna keep coming back to this thread to put down Jelsoft after this response but i'm just sad that things have gone down hill in terms of my respect for Jelsoft.

This is what we're hoping to fix and change with all of the changes that are planned and will be planned for vb.org. Wayne Luke is here to make things better, not worse. Wayne has always been fair and impartial with any dealings I have witnessed him involved with. I, for one, would have never accepted a Mod-ship (is that even a word?) here if I thought things weren't going to get better or things could not get better. If everyone here will just bear with the staff here, I'm sure the changes for the better will show themselves and all that we have gone through in this will make us that much stronger in the end. ;)

OT: Speaking of P2P vBHosting hack found on P2P. Won't name the app but its there.
Jelsoft has been behind the scences of this site and others for along time, I don't see the point in getting worked up over this as that was chens job for some time iirc.
As for the piracy, if these zip's where not going around in the first place the policys would have never come about. In a perfect world jelsoft would not have to protech its product from thoese that belive they can steal and get away with it.
And for the free board vs vBulletin part I wont get into that, if you find something that suits you better then use it, it is just software ya know.

You can make what comments you want, but please stop mentioning avenues of illegally maintaining vB-related material.

What has any of this got to do with Wayne's appointment. Wayne is a genuinely nice guy and at first when I saw him getting involved I had my reservations but after speaking with him he's diplomatic, intelligent and can only be a great asset to this site. Yes there are problems as it stands but we're working hard behind the scenes to try and rectify them :)

My position is as a Liaison between the Jelsoft Staff and the staff of these other forums. vBulletin.org is owned by Jelsoft, hosted on our servers and run by us. Previous oversight has not been sufficient to meet the needs of both the staff and members here. That is where I come in.
The role will be to oversee and help the staff here with issues as well as make the release of future hacks easier. Eventually, I will work with the staff here to promote this site, build its traffic and make it more community oriented instead of just a repository of hacks. Member input will also be sought along the way because it is the members who make the community thrive. As I put it somewhere before, the members are the spirit of the community.
There will be some changes and some improvements to existing sytems but only with cooperation from the community, the local staff and Jelsoft.

This was never an attack on Wayne, this has to do with what I see as general degeneration of VB.
An ideal VB hack site would not be owned by Jelsoft in anyway, something to think about for people who have the resources to do it.

I would think the ideal site would be associated with Jelsoft considering hacks cannot exist without vBulletin. No offense, but it simply sounds like you have a personal problem with Jelsoft itself. Jelsoft's control over vB, loose as it is at times, is perfectly understandable.

I just want to know why it is that people feel Jelsoft owes them anything more than what they paid for?
What I am saying is that when you buy your copy of VB, that is all you are entitled to! You are not guarenteed the right to hack it, the right to complain about it, the right to say what the company can and can not do. Just be fortunate that you can purchase a copy of this wonderful software.
On the other hand, if you can not deal with it, or you feel Jelsoft owes you anything above and beyond what you paid for, then I say to you... Don't let the front door hit you on the way out.

I have to say that I can sense a positive change in the general atmosphere around here already. The changes that are being made to "rescue" vb.org have been good, IMO, and have had a positive impact. I'm looking forward to seeing this place get back to how it used to be and better.

This is really an important factor, which lead to a calm down of users as well as developers ;)

I'd believe this was a good thing if posts critical of jelsoft and the mods here were left open for discussion. If you won't listen to the critisism, how can you change things?
I don't get it!
It appears more like damage control then change.

Most threads I've seen with arguments against Jelsoft invariably go on for pages with nothing but whining.
There is no constructive criticism in such whining. I don't see why people complain over at vBulletin.org in the first place. vBulletin.org is a community for vB owner and hackers, but not for legal issues concerning hacks. If you have something against Jelfsoft or their license agreement, go to their site, and contact them, or post in their forum?s feedback section. The people here who actually release valid hacks and contribute toward the progression of this community are tired of hearing this crap.
