did not have any echoe from the company... i'm not poursuing with silence, so i work on other things... even if theowner is a good friend, a company that promise something and never deliver is not interesting for me...

why do you need that company ? you can modify phpauction GPL all you like, and charge whatever you want for the resulting product as long as you keep it open code..

nope.. to modify and release something the commercial way you need a reseller license. even the GPL version... the GPL does mean modification for personal uses...not commercial...
anyway, i never pay a software for a client request.. the client have to pay it for the need... and any coder can port the software once it is available, so someone here can buy the GPL version and i can do the code... i was waiting for the company to have a free version so i don't have to buy any license for the hack...

ok so, can I send you my phpauction GPL 2.1 and pay you to modify it for me ? is that the way to go ?

usually, yes.. lol...
if i do the job for a client, we deal with a release price if needed... but anyway, we can't discuss this here. PM me for details.
anyway, i think i will take time for the job, because i'm in the middle of another big job... projects are coming one after the other for now... (reputation)

UPDATED: today i received answers from the phpAuction owner... they were in too much changes to let me start coding the integration, as the code was major changed...
they have some other features to add this week-end and they send me the codes to let me rework their entire tool... not only an integration, but to build a better system...
reason: phpAuction was using php sessions in urls... i will change it to the vB technique. also they were using obsolete technique for the authentication that made the code flaws... i will review this...
but at first, the integration... will rebuild their users table so it is usable by us and other tools... and make a mimic of registration/login to make everyone happy.
i sure will take a lot of time doing everything, but it's a good start. the auction system wil lbe greatly improved and we will have our integration. the first real commercial auction ..;)
btw, the integration script will be integrated in the next versions of the auctions softwares (all versions -GPL, XL, etc).. no need to buy more codes... so if you already own phpAuction, just upgrade to that version when it's released...
now, the next step is working on the codes... vB|Professionals will be the manager of this rebuild, so we can't discuss it here - as it's a commercial tool you know!...

<a href="http://acmsoft.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=4" target="_blank">http://acmsoft.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=4</a> for the follow up of the phpAuction project. i'd like to have users and future owners suggestions.. maybe we can have more features and interaction if you have ideas to deal with.
we will not continue this discussion here, due to Commercial Content... and Owners demand!
