View Full Version : Forum > News Page
Im guessing this already exists but dont know what else to search on other than 'news' which only brings up rss news feeds etc.
What I want is to be able to use a forum which I can post, which then can be used as like a news posting on the main page of my website. I dont know how to explain it but hopefully you know what im talking about. Anyone know the name of a hack like this?
Well after no replys I thought I would find something as an example. Heres one. http://www.mysticg.com/ The news posts are actually posts in the IPB forum http://forums.mysticg.com/index.php?showforum=1
So this exist for vB v3?

It is easily codeable. There has been a hack coded as such for every version of vB, and no doubt one will be coded for vB 3. How soon do you need it, since no doubt someone will release one really soon.
How familiar are you with Php? I have a little homepage system I coded back months ago for one of the betas for vb3, if you are familar with Php I can send it over.
Edit: If I code it, with no style, just simple page is that fine for you?

Also there are portals such as vBIndex and vBAdvanced that do exactly this ...
Sadly I have 0 php experiance. I can get around using it but not coding it. I cant see it being too difficult as all your doing is reading from a forums title and message. No style would be great, theres no rush but after having upgraded to vB from phpBB im having the website redesigned. To save time though Im not after a portal really all I want is to be able to is display the messages on a page somewhere. Can these existing mods you mention do just that or are they doing more than what im after? Also having to do 0 modification to the vB code is something Im after as Im lazy when it comes to upgrading and having to make sure mods still work after.
DrkFusion: Would you be able to help me out then?

Anyone else?
Pluhnews for vb2 works for this, look for the modifications needed for it to work for vb3 towards the end of the thread.
That hack really needs to be posted by someone in the vb3 category.
Thanks ill keep an eye out as his last posts states he is going to update it to work with vb3.
