View Full Version : Forced announcement to be read by members?

Forced sounds a little harsh, but couldn't find a better word :)

We just recently updated our Terms of Service (TOS), or forum rules if you will.

Is there a way to make all users go to the TOS page and agree to the updated terms? Seeing as how the terms have changed since they registered and agreed to them, I think it is only fair to notify them somehow.

A hack like this could be used for any announcement that an admin might want to make his audience aware of?

maybe something kind of like Paypal does when you login to your account, you get little tips or new features etc... before you go to your account settings?

hope this makes sense.

Thanks

It does and it's a good idea.

Okiewan,

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you think it's a good idea. I think that there would be alont of admins that would use something like this. You wouldn't use it all of the time, but it would be perfect for those few times that you really want to get a message across.

Maybe not allow the member to read access the BB until they read the announcement, then they click a button, then they access the site as usual.

Just bringing this topic back up to the top, does anyone know if there is such a hack yet? Thanks

I'll bring this to the top as I want something like this as well.

I want to do a major overhaul of the rules and I don't want to deal with 100+ people that never read the normal announcments.

@LiveWire... why they locked your release?!...

btw, why not release it on your site, as usual ?! (if it's not done already)

The link here http://www.vbhacks.us/forum/showthread.php?t=433 shouldn't be locked, though you have to be a registered member, but it will be released here when Logistic gets back online.
