hELLO there.
I have currently IPB 1.3 installed on my board.
and i have lots of hacks installed

Once i buy Vbullein 3.0 can the technical support convert my forums to vbullein 3.0 ?? without loosing any posts.

I could have done it myself. but i have lots of hacks installed for ipb.
here is the list. as i can make out.

Latest Addons to Board :
1. Forum has been upgraded to 1.3 Final

2. Portal 1.1 Hack has been added and fixed
Upgraded to Portal 1.2 Much Better
Upgraded to Portal 1.2.6 and its A GREAT ADDON TO US
All the modules on front page are fixed/organized.
It looks c00l to have a portal page

3.Added 16 new EXCITING skins to the board. Choose your way !!!
As we have many mods installed on the mod, many of those require changes to be done in each of the skin files, hence we only 3 Skins now

4. Added Auto PM Sender to new User Registrations MOD
More still in progress

5. Add Image Auto-Resize Mod to Board.
Requires resynchronise addition of 2 files and resncyronisation of files for new skins

6. Added Tell a Friend MOD.
Needs Addition of Some Codes to the,

vBulletin won't import from IPB or install any of the vB hacks for you, however I'm sure you will be able to pay someone who knows vB to do this for you.

vB3 generates thumbnails for attachments, I've not seen re-sizing of images with [img] code.

Though.. all my forum integration things are solved.

now there is just 1 thing which worries.
As i said, i do not care, if all my mods from IPB are gone.

I just want that my CURRENT ipb forums to be upgraded to vbulletin 3.0x (after i buy it)
will that be done for me ?
or i will have to pay more for that.

if i will have to pay more. please tell me how much more. possibly and where can i ask that question.

vBulletin can install vB (but not import IPB) for $135. Importing is pretty easy though, you just upload the scripts and follow the steps in the importer.

You'll need to upgrade IPB to vB2 then vB2 to vB3 as vB3 doesn't have any importers yet.

As you don't have a licence you can't post in the service requests forum, however hopefully someone may see this thread and respond :)

via the import script i will have to import all my default ipb tables to vbb 2.0 first

and from vbb 2.0 to vbb 3.0 ? right



but another question now.

i am planning to buy vbb 3.0 and not vbb 2.0 ?

so for this upgrade i will have to buy both the licenses ?? :( or how will it take place.



and i am sure. if its related to importing from database, then it wont be really problematic. is there someway to test thing first on my forums. wether the imports will work or not ? before actually purchasing VBulletin.

coz i have more then 10000+ posts on my fourms.

and i really do not want to loose them and also loose my members information..

When you buy vBulletin you get access to the latest version of both vBulletin 2 (2.3.4) and vBulletin 3 (3.0.0 RC4) and are allowed to run one real live installation of either vB2 or vB3.

There is no way to try vBulletin before you buy it I'm afraid.

Sandy...I've already answered this over at vbulletin.com. :) It's impossible to 'guarantee' your database will import correctly. It really depends on how severely it is modified. We will do everything we can to help, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee it will work.
