View Full Version : Looking for a selective PM prune hack

I am cleaning up my database getting ready to move the live 2.3 board to 3.0 Gold and choked when I saw the count of PMs that are in the system for members who haven't logged in for 2 years or more.

Now with the downloadable PMs feature, what I would like is a hack that will run via cron nightly and delete all PMs that are over X days old (options of 60, 90, 120?) BUT would need the availability to exclude usergroups from this (admins, mods, and if we enable it, a 'subscription' premium group - as an additional incentive to subscribe to the board).

Has anyone else thought of doing anything similar, or have any thoughts on this?

I am also interested in this idea so I am bumping the thread for others to see.

A cronjob to prune outdated PM's would be a very popular feature for larger message boards.

I started to write this, but with the table split, it is a real bear now. Thanks for bumping it -- maybe someone with more experience than I have will help?

Thanks for bumping this!

There is a hack (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=70573&page=2&pp=15), but it does not seem to be working for everyone. I hope someone will come up with something ... much needed.
