Outlook express 6 problems.

I'm trying to access my hotmail account thru outlook express 6.... I setup the account correctly and everything but it gives this message when I try to connect every time:


Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Service Unavailable', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCCF0


Anyone know what I'm doin wrong? :confused:

maybe its just me, but dont you have to pay to pick up your hotmail via pop3?

Yes - they no longer offer this service for free as far as I know :)

I have the free service and pop3 works for me.

that doesn't look correct to me, at least not for a pop3 server ^^

i have to agree Xenon, most mail servers run to the format of something.domain.com theres never in my experirence been anything to follow that i.e /dir/dir/crap

its things like smtp. pop3. pop. mail. etc :p

and im 90% sure hotmail doesnt offer the ability to get mail via outlook etc, its only webmail and not too good at that, unless your willing to pay.

folks, buy domains ?5 for like 2 yr and u can have ur own spam free emails, heck folk should chip together and buy small amounts of webspace adn then share it with firends etc and all pay like a ?1 a month for top spam free email under your control

its what i used to do with a few firends after we all got sick of spam in our hotmail and the filters began to fill up :p

OE supports Hotmail - but Hotmail isn't pop3 ;)

If you entered your email address correctly it should work - the server link is correct. Maybe Hotmail's broken?

If you're connecting hotmail through Outlook, it's done by an HTTP mail server.
