I have a pay only forum. How can I make it so someone who has registered an account (but hasn't paid yet) is able to access the subscriptions page.

Turning "Can See Forum" for the temporary usergroup (I'm using the default "Registered Users" group to hold the people who have registered, but haven't paid, and then having the subscription move them to the paid group) screws up my sign-up process.

As it is, someone will register for an account, be redirected to the forum home (where they'll see that there are 0 posts in every forum) page, and have no instructions on how to purchase a subscription. I want the standard error page (the one with the login box, which I have customized to give instructions on the registration process) to show up unless they have paid, so they won't be confused.

But if I do that, they can't even access the subscriptions page. That doesn't make any sense.

Is there anything I can do?

(Having the ability to pay when registering would solve all of this, I don't know why that's not an option)

Any help?

All I need to do is change the permissions for subscriptions.php (I think), but I have no idea how I'd go about doing this.

Does anyone know?

This is a valid point. What good is having a subscription page if no one can access it? It doesn't make sense to give everyone Forum viewing permissions!!!

you simply need a complete private forum, isn't it.. so everybody registering can access the subscriptions, but no access to forums...

you just have to play with your permissions on each forum... you played too much already, that's why it's all messed-up...

what would be best is a complete free forum for everyone to see, on top of your display, where guests and new registered can access to post and request help... in that forum, you add your own FAQ, so users with little access will understand why they don't see other parts of the forum.

you can see that way on my own board... i do commercial support on my board, and i'Ve modified the guest block so they know that to deal with... once you register, you see more forums.. this is the same for subscriptions... once you subscribe to a paid forum, you have access to it.

this is just a structured way to deal with users...
