I have seen requests for autosizing of profile and avatar images, how about including (GD or Image:Magick) resizing of image attachments as they are uploaded so they meet the required height x width pixel size & memory constraints?

About half my forum users can't resize images, and about half of those who can don't know much about jpeg compression. Yeah, they are basically inept, but they want to post pictures, so what do you do?

Please tell me someone's working on this, or better yet, that I am an idjit and it's already available?

Regards,

Matt

I was very impressed with the auto thumbnailing of forum attachments that can be enabled from the admin menu for GD-compliant servers. It's a little disappointing that they didn't go the extra mile (probably closer to the extra block) and make the images resize to match.

VB3 is wonderful, but there is a tendency for developers to see the world as "mostly like themselves" that is computer-capable and well above average intelligence. They appreciate tools that offer the user power and flash, perhaps more than ease-of-use and intuitive capabilities.

They need to step back a bit and recognize that most people are NOT like them. Most people do not want to be bothered with resizing their own attachments. Most new computer users don't even know how to do it, and many can't do it effectively.

Matt
