Alphabetical icon sorting in vB3?

I've got about 1,600 stock 80 px x 80 px avatars. When they're displayed on the avatar selection page in vB 3.0, they're not sorted in alphabetical order, unlike vB 2.3.*.

Is there a hack available so they can be displayed in alphabetical order? Why did the folks at vBulletin decide to have unsorted avatars, anyhow?
