Hi, it's not that there was a mistake in it, it was the hack wasn't complete. I was working on a hack and testing what the install procedure was like so far and now I can't seem to be able to get back into the hack to work with it and change steps etc.? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

I deleted the hack and imported it into the datebase, but still the only to options I have from the "Manage Hacks" page are to either delete it or continue with the installation, I want to edit the steps etc.?

Hi, it's not that there was a mistake in it, it was the hack wasn't complete. I was working on a hack and testing what the install procedure was like so far and now I can't seem to be able to get back into the hack to work with it and change steps etc.? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
To do that, you really should either run a TEST install (or Verbose Test) instead of a Real install (which you apparently did, otherwise it will not appear in the Unfinished Hack Installs section), OR you should enable ONLY the step you want to try out (with a real install).

To enable only one step, go (before you do any install runs, so this would be before things got messy for you :)) to the Edit Hack Details page and go to the section which lists what steps are part of the hack. There you should enable only the step(s) that you wish to execute (really execute). Then do a REAL install sequence.

Adusei, try looking at the table phrasetype and see if there's a row (probably with id 151) called hacklog (as the fieldname) ?

If so, delete that one as well (along with language.phrasegroup_hacklog if it exists again, and tables hack and hacklog).

I deleted ALL tbls in the db (hack, hacklog), there is NO hacklog row in tbl phrasetype - and still the install routine will stop at the same place...

And NOW I've got an additional problem through it:
In my vB now I can't do changes on phrases again, always I get an mysql error msg 1054 - because language.phrasegroup_hacklog doesn't exist.

Now I really need help urgenly!

Hi, I think this is what I need to do to get back to working on the hack the way I had been, how do I do this?

1) delete the hack (which you can only do a Continue Install or Delete Hack for);
2) make sure that that hack's .htl file is in your /htlfiles/ directory;
3) Go to Install Hacks, then select that hack (via the radio button), then start install and choose IMPORT TO DATABASE ONLY;
4) You'll end up directly on the Manage Hacks page. Go to Edit Hack Details for your hack, which should be in there again now, editable and all;
5) disable all steps that you have already executed successfully;
6) Save, then go to the hack's (on manage hacks page) drop down menu and choose Run Install Sequence, then choose Real Install and continue where you left off.

Figured it out.

Had to change "atstep" to -1 after step 4 above.

G :) Many things will be different in HTL 1.1, a new feature will be to "Revert" any hack in the database (essentially putting it in completely initial status with all steps disabled, ready to go again).

hello i just upgraded from 3.0 gamma to rc4 and with the upgrade lost the admin cp functions when i tried to reinstall the htl hack at step 2 of 5 there is no button to continue with the install.
up till then everything is fine.

drews: what error(s) are you getting?

Areku: once you upgrade your vB3, to have the HTL work again you only have to re-apply the few file modifications. IF you have the HTL installed already, you can use the HTL's built-in feature to LIST ALL MODIFICATIONS -> this shows all file edits needed for all of your installed (HTL-) hacks. Including the HTL itself. So before you upgrade your vB3, open that page in a separate tab or browser window, and then do the upgrade.
Also, see the very first post in this thread, it has a link to a tutorial on how to easily upgrade your vB3 using the HTL.

stand68: check to see if your database table `language` has this column: phrasegroup_hacklog - if so, delete it. Then also delete, on the phrasetype table, the row where fieldname='hacklog' (IF it exists). Then try again.

YogiTW: the HTL is mostly forwards compatible, so unless a new vB3 version has some major changes in where functions are or what the (existing) functions do, the HTL will work right away with upcoming releases of vB3 (like 3.1). It will only require you to re-apply the file changes.

Sorry if this question was there befor, but I was wondering, if it's possible to import two differnet phrases XML or more to my multi lang forum at ONE time.

I don't know if this can be done, but if there was like two new fields, or maybe more, for multi Phrases XML files importing, and next or infront of each field, another field for inputing the "charset" for each aditional language you've got in your forums you want to import phrases to based on the HTML Character Set you got in the the General Settings of your other languages.

and based on the charest you input to the other XML file, it will be imported to it.

THE ONLY hack i already had working on RC4 was vbadvanced homepage hack...

How do I make it HTL compatible so next time I upgrade VB to RCx or final, HTL will remain and vbadvanced won't be removed neither?

Euhm, i WAS planning to install HTL, cause the idea sounded nice.

Then i browsed a bit through the full rls hacks (old forum style) and found that on the newest 2 pages (50 rls's) only 2 ! used HTL :(

That was a bad decision. Detaching himself from this forum doesn't give me good hopes for the future and support of this hack.

Actually they did reply to this on thier forum. Turns out it was easier than I thought, didn't have to edit any code. All you have to do is "Add Hack" with what info you have, then their is an option to creat/edit the menu links for it. So yes you can... now we all know.

need to add the code in the install step for the adminCP.

If you run the installer again, and select Test Run. The necessary file edits are in step 6 of the installer. there are three, make sure you did all of them. :)

It's fixed. I know what I did now. I had installed another hack after HTL and used a fresh copy of /admincp/index.php and not the one I had updated with the HTL code.

Ok I'm going nuts. I d/l this directly to my server and copied the files over and when I try to run the install I get the following error;

Yep. I had the same error as GovGaming and milkmycow, it seems to not include any way to reach the next step after "Insert Hack Phrases" if you've already had HTL installed once before and are reinstalling it after upgrading VB [like I am now from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1]. Luckily for me, I'm doing a sort of psuedo clean install, so I can afford to drop my current language, phrase and phrasetype tables and insert the original ones - which did the trick for me.

Though, for future upgrades a fix would be nice. :)

Deleting all the tables HTL uses in the mySQL database should fix that.

Same problem here. I've tried to delete hack and hacklog- table and the HTL-related phrases in language before trying to re-innstall. With no luck. :(

Damn, I must be dumb or something. I'm trying to convert Beermonster's hack (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=502972#post502972) and I'm to the point where I generate the Phrases XML. The temp file is located in /forums/bannerphrases.php. The contents of the file are:<?php

No Temporary Phrases Found errors and No XML Files designated errors. Of course, this is my first time trying to "write" a hack for HTL so what am I doing wrong?

In the admin-controlpanel I can not see anything in the left navbar on top in the menu. There is no gfx or text in it, but clicking in the second row switches to the HTL-menu and backwards.

I just Installed it and there are missing Phrases! The new Menu to switch in the AdminCP is empty. I can click on an empty cell and it changes. btw: The Change is awful, Why change between two Menus?
And the Settings are empty with no phrases. I use a complete German Forum.

Just do the Index.php edit. ;) :) You can always access the Hack List by directly calling the script in your browser. and then the above steps would be found by running a test install, should be step 6 of 6.

Thats the way i feel but with some of the new changes in some of the hacks that im able to do with this easy using the htl like the settings im not sure if i will have two versions for all my hacks. Time was the reason i never made talkerbot 2.0.3 which now that this is here and making it alot less time consuming for me to add and distibute the settings changes and stuff for it I am now making version 2.0.3

under the hack in question, you'd select edit hack details, then from there you add the userid of the admins you'd like access to install.

I wondered if this was because Hack_Tracking_Log.htl hadn't uploaded in binary, so I tried overwriting that and running the install program again. But when I got to Insert Hack Phrases (Step 2 of 5), there was no next step button.
I've tried deleting all files and reverting the .php files that I know were modified, but the same still happens when I get to step 2 of the installation, it won't let me go any further.

Did you do the three files edits?

admincp/index.php
includes/adminfunctions_navpanel.php
includes/adminfunctions_emplates.php

You need to do those for the menu navigation section to show up.

if you do those, then the section will show up above the vBulletin Options section.

I got an email stating there was a new post, and read the post, but when i got here, it wasn't here. :ermm:

As for the uninstall process. I don't think uninstalling is supported in this version, but how to uninstall the HTL would be to go into your hacks menu, and in the drop down box next to the HTL, select 'Uninstall Hack'

But you don't need to reinstall it.

Just point your browser to admincp/hackadmin.php?do=modify

and it will go to the Hacks menu. Just do the hacks above and it will add the section i was refering to.

Hope this helps. Ohh and the post that was there, but never was. :p


No, those weren't listed in the readme file. The readme file just said to upload all files and run the install script.
I can't find instructions for these file edits, where are they?

Plus, how can I completely uninstall the htl so I can start afresh and get the install script to run?

It wont let me upload in Binary, I tried to but its only doing ASCII. So i tried doing the install_htp.php with the link of my page (www.yoursite.com/forum/admincp/install_htm.php) does not work for me i have to do it like this "www.mysite.com/board/index/php/adminmp/install_htp.php" , sometimes when i do that it'll just show me my board regularly and another time it went with like 4 Debug messages and it showed my site with the header messed up and as if it were another color and froze when it tried uploading the last "image", Help?

You do not need to reinstall the HTL when upgrading, the Database and phrases are already there, you need only make the necessary file edits as instructed in the second to last step. the three file edits are listed in one of my post in this thread, on one of the previous pages. or you can do a test (Verbose) install, and find the file edits there. point to hackadmin.php in your adminCP.

Now wanting to install shoutbox, which says

For the Squall Shoutbox Hack, I had it with my original VB 3.0 but when I installed I was having problems getting it on the forum home. All of my phrases for the ShoutBox Hack are gone.

So when I go to the HTL installer it tells me it cant make a phrase group, I assume because its already there. Is there a way to delete the group so the installer can go through or can I change something in the file so that it just uploads the phrases instead?

eh depends if you really like it so be it, but current hacking authors are not mass producting hacks to be used with the HTL anymore, mostly because you are required to have one of each.

Using somthing like the HIS for your hacks instead allow hackers to only have one kind.

no, If you have already installed the hack before you do the HTL, thenall you do is select Yes and it will add it to the hacks list. If youselect no, then you will have to go through the install process beforeit gets added to the list.

I was still using it till I upgraded to 3.0.7. Now I dont have the menu option in admincp and It stops at step 2 (where it says its adding phrases ) and doesnt show another "Step" button to procede with the reinstall try. Anyone got any suggestions?

Just readd the code listed in the install, to add it to your admin CP.

i have the same problem as xTerMn8R. When i try to install it it stops at step 2. Im using version 3.07 of vb. Is there any fix to this problem or is it not compatable with 3.07? thanks in advance.

are you trying to install it again? or is it a clean install of the hack?

If you are trying to reinstall due to updating vBull version, don't, all you need to do is Read the code listed in the install where it adds code to /admincp/index.php.

The HTL is already installed, you need only use the install script for a clean install.
