I am running v1.2 of the shoutbox on rc4.
I have just moved servers but since the move, i can no longer see new shouts in the iframe on forums home.

I had to restore the database and didnt get no issues - if i try and shout from the homepage it goes through the motions fine - no errors - just the shouts dont appear.
If you go to the shout history page - they are in there - random as hell !!

Any idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!

That's a very very odd problem that I have never seen before until recently on a site that I admin. The problem I am having is only old shouts are appearing on forumhome, but they all show up in shoutbox.php (they aren't random in my case). I'm not sure exactly is going wrong, but needless to say I am looking into it.

Ah, I see. I seriously don't know what the hell is going on - it uses almost the same exact query for both parts. I'll see if I can release an update today.

I found out what the problem is. Instead of it storing the 'deleted' column as 0, it started making it NULL. I'll release a fix in a little while.

A bug has been discovered in 1.02 and below that may prevent new shouts from being displayed. It is recommended that you upgrade to 1.03 immediately. Thanks.

Hey Link, I got this installed and imported my shouts from TWT's v2 hack - but when I go to 'do update' to associate the shouts with the users it just stops about 30 users in. I'm using the latest version, any reason why this might be happening?

Holding. Thanks mate. I noticed there's a small error in the conversion script too, it attempts to access shoutbox_install.php?step=22 rather than twtcommishvb2shoutbox_conversion.php?step=22, so you get a 404 if you don't understand why it's going wrong. ;)

The update doesn't seem to be working mate. It just tries to open the page, it's been like that for about 5 minutes now. Strange as it doesn't time out, yet nothing is loaded.

Edit: I just got a cannot find server message after waiting for it to complete whatever it may have been doing.

My server guys have thrown a hissy fit over this hack and I had to take it down. They say the tables aren't indexed properly. :confused:

You should consider also to create a seperate small shoutbox.php-file for the iframe. The iframe gets battered with refreshes on my site, and the smaller the script, the better.

Plus the shoutbox.php is f'd looking and the buttons to the right of the "Shout Now!" are missing. Our main programmer did something last week. Not exactly sure what he did, so I'm asking you guys if you can figure out what the problems seem to be.

First of all - the phrases aren't working. Go into the phrase manager and edit a phrase and save and see if it helps.

About it going back to the top of the forums - that's a problem that came when I removed to text box out of the iframe so it wouldn't be refreshed with the shouts. I don't know how to make it submit to the iframe without being in the iframe, so I dunno how to fix it.

Run these queries and see if it helps then.

I dunno what to say. It all works here. If you go to shoutbox.php?do=update&info=1, it should show everything that is going on, and then at the bottom have a link to the next page to process. If you want to do more than 50 at a time, find $perpage = "50"; in shoutbox.php and change it to something else.

Hmm link, I seem to be having a problem, I just installed this hack, but NOTHING is there, no phrases, no shoutbox templates, nothing. I'm using RC4...This was the only hack I installed after I installed the HTL...=/

Link the first page works fine, it just won't even load the second page. Maybe the script is timing out - so I'll do what you suggested but change it to 10 users at a time.

Weird hack
It would install normally, but to settings or anything that would let me turn the shoutbox on appear anywhere. No menus, nothing! Where am I supposed to edit settings? After the successfull install, what else do i need to do? Do i have to edit any settings manually?

Anyone who is having problems with the phrases and settings etc. not being there, run the following queries, delete the hack from the HTL, re-upload the attached HTL and try the install again.

Pick a usergroup, any usergroup, edit and save. That should update the cache allowing it to pick up the needed permissions.

I noticed a couple pages back it was mentioned that you had fixed it back in beta 5 but I didn't see any manual fix for this. I'm running 1.03d and everything else is working perfectly. Also, could you tell me what to edit to have a title for my shoutbox? Any help is appreciated :)

Beta 5 was a long while ago. WYSIWYG has been a +++++ all throughout the developement of this hack. I'll work on fixing JS/WYSIWYG problems in 1.04.

Make sure you have edited the FORUMHOME template, and have it turned on in the options (vBulletin Options -> Shoutbox Settings) - and make sure you have updated usergroup permissions (edit a usergroup and save without changing anything).

Both have to do with the shoutbox_iframe template.

1: Find:<hr> <if condition="$therewasatoday == Simply remove the <hr> from that line.

2: Find:$headinclude Add under:<style type="text/css">

EDIT: Noticed you asked another question. Refresh button is simple. Still in shoutbox_iframe, find this:<if condition="$therewasatoday == Add right before it: <a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="shoutbox.php?$session[sessionurl]do=iframe">[Refresh]</a> This was taken out by accident before and will be placed back in in 1.04. As for the "archive" link - there is no archive. If you are talking about shoutbox.php, then "Shoutbox - Latest x Shouts" would be a link to it.

Sounds like the templates weren't installed to the style you are using. Make sure the templates are all there on all the styles (be it by them actually being on all styles or through style inheritance).

Fixed my first problem, however the bug with wysiwyg editor is still there. Also, I have a rather template question. How can i remove that grey part around the shoutbit (when iframe is enabled)? See screenshot.
WYSIWYG should be working in 1.04 when it's released.

Thanks for the response mate, I've so far been using do=update&userid=X - I took a peek at the script and realised it could be done. It seems only around a 3rd of users haven't been updated so I'm going through The Shoutbox page by page and checking the userid's of users not assigned and showing as '0' and then updating them. My Shoutbox is 750 pages... I'm 200 pages in lol. :)

I'm not sure if it's because of the upgrade or something but EVERYONE can edit everyone's comment. That includes delete messages, edit messages, even mine. I know this because I tried it as guest. Also, I have it so that guests can not see the shout box, but they can see it anyway. And they can't post a comment in the home forum, but they can post a message in the shoutbox.php. Guests can do everything an admin can do in the shout box, that goes with every other group. Is this because of VB3 Gold? The files are alittle different?

for your issue make sure heirachy mode is set at #1

i would say that's the biggest flaw in this hack, their doesn't need to be #1 or #2 just write next to them waht they are, apart from that awesome hacks, if i get time tomorrow i'll mod the templates and release em in this thread :)

I can't get this hack to install :(
Did a manuall install, and first get the tables forked because after 3 weeks there is still a broken sql file that lacks an ' in it :(
Fixed that but then the 2nd file forked as well

It seems that it contains the line:
INSERT INTO phrase (phraseid, languageid, varname, text, phrasetypeid) VALUES (NULL, '0', 'shoutbox_shoutbox_leaderboard', 'Shoutbox Leaderboard', '153');
twice in the phases.sql file, resulting in a duplicate SQL error :(
Now i don't know what got done from that file and what didn't
Tried to manually c/p the other lines but it seems there are more duplicate lines in it.

I kinda give up on this hack, cause the other 2 files prolly will fork as well and cleaning up the forked tables isn't fun

Ok, well I installed the SB3 with the HTL way.

I installed it with no hitches and www.vgcity.com/subdomains/forums/shoutbox.php works perfectly fine, all of the options are set to their defaults or on.

The problem is, it does not show up on the forumhome at ALL.

i had no errors during the install and it works aside from that one thing. Was I suppost to do anything after using the HTL?

PS; I did make the neccessary changes to index.php and I installed it through HTL and did not have to edit FORUMHOME template at all(although I did open up FORUMHOME template and did a search on "shoutbox" and was not able to find anything). I also made sure that I turned the option to ON under vBulletin options and in the usergroups.

You do need to edit the FORUMHOME template. There are two place to change the template according to where are you want your shoutbox to ba appear.
You can take a look of the normal installation file or run the test installation in htl to check where is needed to be changed.

The installing did go perfect. No errors or anything. When I'm at my forum I also get the nice shoutbox, perfect. But When I press on the -> at the shoutbox window and it loads up

There is a problem with hte non htl part in the phrases.sql file

There are duplicate inserts and it is screwing up the query when i t is ran.

That file needs to be fixed.

I installed this Hack via HTL. So far it`s working but I also have the same error. There is nothing written @ the optionscreen if you try to set parameters in the admin cp.
I also translated the phrases but they still do not show up.

@ Cyb0rg: I found a workaround, but this can't be a real solution. Run the sql queries manually from the non htl folder after htl install, ignore the errors.

Attention: There's a missing ' in shoutbox.sql.

Search for:
DELETE FROM phrase WHERE varname LIKE %shoutbox%';

Replace it with:
DELETE FROM phrase WHERE varname LIKE '%shoutbox%';

AGH, I tried the manual install, but the MySQL won't go though. It keep returning erros that the tables already exist but they have invalid syntax. I can't seem to uninstall the HTL hack because for some reason it won't let me. And I try to install the HTL version, and it says "Phrases could not be added!"

Hi. I was wondering if there was a way to set the default editor for the shout different than what people choose for threads. That way there isnt so many problems with it. Also, can the smilies show in a box like TWTCommish's version without selecting for the smilie box in the threads?

I recently installed this Hack (which is great) on a NEW 3.0.1 Vb system ... Its working great in the iframe on home page ( I can shout here in the Home page input box) but when I open the shoubox.php window and try and add a shout I get a Blank Dialog Box pop up with an ! in it and an Ok button after typing and pressing the "Shout Now" Button. Some times I get a message that says ya cant You cannot make a blank shout!

Let me start working on making this hack work correctly, now that I took a few days off for Spring Break, a week for being lazy, and a week where I felt like ++++.

1.10 or something like that, with a standalone installer that works, working WYSIWYG, and if I get Zachery to help me, probably other stuff fixed up in the templates. ;)

OMG! You're back! Welcome back and I'm glad you had some rest. I was giving up on this hack... and I really hated to do that. I know you have quite a few threads to go through... but when you get to mine I would really like to know about the option to have the default editor separate so that there arent any compatibility problems. All I want is a box to type words and smilies to click that show on my front page and forum home. :D

well the NON-HTL version was a complete +++++ to install, thanx to NEXUS-L33T for the correct .sqls, you need to be a little clearer on SAVING THOSE PHRASES...otherwise you end up with no text anywhere...anyways, looks like a gr8 hack, cheers (eventually) ;)

Help, i installed this a few weeks back, worked a treat (only thing i had to do was manully type the htl url in to install hacks)

I had to clean install my frum again. i re-installed htl and it went fine again with the Manage hacks link missing..

I come to install a hack and now it says "There are currently no Hacks in the database." but i uploaded the correct files step by step but nothing..

Btw im trying to install the shoutbox which is a few threads below this.

By installation default, Administrators, Moderators, and Registered Users all have

Can View Shoutbox ---> Set to YES
Can Shout / Post Messages --- Set to YES

BUT, I'm loging on as an Admin and it says:

Your usergroup(s) do not have permission to use the shoutbox.

What's wrong here? what could be the problem? Please help...

Zachery; I didn't use the HTL if that's what you mean. I just followed the install.txt file in the folder.

Don't know why, but I was just editing something in admin - options and suddently every setting in there changed, the board was turned off.. basically every setting changed.
Now I can't see the shoutbox, even if I've checked 10 times that it's turned on and permissions are correct.

So basically.. I have to remove this tomorrow.. I can't risk it editing all the settings again.

Hi i have a problem.

I installed the hack with the HTL and it works perfectly fine. But i need to uninstall it to check if its conflicting with another hack i have. When i went to the HTL, i couldnt get the uninstall page to show up for some reason, so i ended up deleting the hack. Now i still have the shoutbox but no way of an automated uninstall, and when i try to install the hack again so i can uninstall it i get this error on step 2.

Could not add a Phrase group in the System!

What i really need is instructions on how to completely delete the hack, the easiest way possible, because i think it may conflict with another i have and i need to make sure. Any suggestions?

The fix for the bug is at line 646 in shoutbox.php:

just get rid of this

i did changed to a news server, everyathing is fine, the shoutbox is working too .. but only when i enter it .. on forumhome and the vBadvanced homepage the latest shout will not show up , only the asshout written before the server changed are showing up ..

so the latest shout is showing 13 hours vefore, but in the shoutbox homepage the latest shout is showed up .. what can this be? i cahnged the settings, the usergroup and a pphrase like in the install script, but also nothing helped ..
