View Full Version : Post Icon Pull Down Menu

Hello,

I would like to reccommend a feature that I think would get a lot of use... At least I would love it...

As it is now, post icons are set on radio buttons... Which is fine if you like the little 10 x 10 icons that don't really add any flavor to your board...

But myself, I prefer 50 x 50 icons... But that's a lot of real estate to load on a post message page when set up as radio buttons.

So my request is that someone develop a system that allows for a pull down menu in which users are able to slect the icons from that menu, and a java script displays each icon next to the menu as you highlight it.

There's a trick to it though... Along with this pull down, there needs to be a manager which allows you to alphabetize the icons, so you can add to them down the road and have them still able to be located (rather than a jumbled mess).

This was done by damicatz for vBulletin 2.9, so there is a frame of reference for some clever coder out there... You can view that thread here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=47043&page=1&pp=15)

I hope someone likes the idea...

TJ

I'll see what I can do, already contacted original hack author hopefully he replies, if not because he's not around though then I guess I'll release the hack for vB 3 (basically just code my own really) :)

Much appreciated!

He's a hard guy to get ahold of... Once he posted the hack, that was the last I ever heard from him...

And not to nitpick, but I just want to express how important it is that it have the capability to incorporate new items that are added down the road in alphabetical order... It really becomes a jumbled mess that nobody uses otherwise... But when it's alphabetical, people definitely use it.

Thank you so much! :D

Haven't received a reply back from the hack author yet, so if I have the time, I will make my very own, but you might have to wait a little while before I release it (or maybe someone else could release this :))

I haven't had time to work much on this yet.
I have a hack that is an extrapolation of the current vB3 drop-down menus, that auto-populates a menu based on the contents of a folder or SQL query - I think this would fit the bill .. would take a bit of re-working but could easily be pointed to the posticon table.

PM if someone wants this to work with to make this hack - I have no time atm ....
