If you prefer the old-style postbit, using two vertical columns rather than the new horizontal layout, you can switch back to using that template with this switch.confused a bit? the image you show in the first post is the old "vertical"

how does this hack work? like where does it get the figures for the 3 power bars under the avatar? is this part of a larger addition to the vb forum? *slightly confused* i want to download this but i dont know if i need anything else to run it in, other than the vb3 code.

read the install. put the code where its sposed to be. put the html where its sposed to be and bam

it generates stats based on
posts,postsperday,time registered, :)

yes i do plan to add an elements system and hopefully for the pokemon lovers a evolution system, however im sure the evolution system could be worked out for ohter systems as well :)

Well, I got alot of PM's for this modification I made, but I wasn't expecting it, and I am sorry I am so late with this, but in the attachments is the text file that tells you how to have your stats like mine, exactly like mine for instance, I am including my images and so forth if you would like to use them. its not hard to do, i just havent had the time or the want to do it :) ive been busy writing hacks and developing the next windows XP skins for RC :)

I've had this installed on my forum for about a week (sorry, forgot to click install at the time, done it now though).

My users love it, especially as i run a gaming related website in the first place, it's making my users visit the forum and post a lot more regular than they were. :)

Thanks for the great hack but the text instructions need to be updated/changed as you have the wrong path to the last bar image listed. Other than that...freaking awesome to have this hack back again for 3.0

the width of the bars is always random like the exp sometimes is longer than the rest or mp for that matter is there anyway to make them all the same size thanks in advance.

thats because the image paths are wrong for the exp....they should be images\rpg\imagename.gif and not images\bar\imagename.gif. Check your template code.

The code for this hack is really....really bad, no offence to whoever wrote it and using the arithmatic functions currently used to get stats is CPU% intensive :/

The use of log10 / pow times 50+ post per page, with several hundred online does not work good on server load.

Not only that the, the code usage is eh..not so good for instance

Why not just use an elseif, instead of a Whole other If structure, thats inefficient (now we have to remember we're doing this in 50+post per page), excessive usage of floor() etc.. the declaration of so many variables is pointless, would be a lot more straightforward and efficient to just use an array of such ie.


Instead of This:

$rpglvl
$level
$ep
$showlevel
$hpmulti

Use:
$rpg_stats['rpglvl']
$rpg_stats['level']
$rpg_stats['ep']
$rpg_stats['showlevel']
$rpg_stats['hpmulti']


Not only all of the aformentioned log10 and pow's, lots and lots of * and /, its not mearly a 'bit' of math, considering your having to do this for every post shown on a page. Now this may be fine on a small forum, but on a very busy forum processing all of this math takes cpu cycles.

I suggest making a heavier mod to the user table, and updating the stats when they make a new thread or post, thus saving overhead and processing time on every page load.

Of course I doubt you wanna bother with that, so I may release my own hack shortly to combat this problem... It may seem insignificant to many, but to me speed is everything.

Thats just my take and observation of the code provided, no pun is intended whatsoever.

I fixed the problem. There is a mistake in the directions, for the template edit. The directions for uploading the images say: upload all images to /images/rpg

Yet in the template edit. the exp image is being called from "images/bar"

Thanks! If you checked my board, you'll see that a very basic version of this plug-in is functional. However, I cannot understand why my links to the images aren't working. Does this version also include a box around the stats or are they fluid?:)
