Hi there,

I'm running VB2.3.0 with Vbportal2pr8 over it on a dedicated server.

Lately, i've noticed audience has gone near the average of 500 simultanous people, and, believe it or not, this is stressing a dual 2ghz (1gb RAM) xeon server...

We've made all kind of tests and we fear vbportal is the responsible for the extra load.

I'd like advice on which "homepage" system could we integrate and if we require a VB upgrade or not. At this time forums have a lot of hacks and we'd not like to upgrade unless it's 100% necessary.

I'd like to know, based on the figures above, which home system would you choose between (for what i've seen) vbportal, vbadvanced, virtualnews or vbhome lite.

Which is the most optimal?

How do I know how many queries are OK for my server?

Any prior tests before uninstalling vbportal? AFAI've seen, vbportal seems not to be load friendly, right?

Thanks for your replies in advance!

Ah!

Forgot to add!

I just need a login screen, a polls screen, past threads and may be html boxes... no need for phpnuked "topics", nor ephemerids, downloads, links, etc...

vBportal is a server hog, install something like vBhome lite or vBindex. vBhome is what i used for along time and it never stressed our server much, we upgraded to vBportal and quickly had to go back to vBhome.
