Need help with backing up database

hello all. I've searched the forums and got some answers on this, and found that the telnet feature is the most realiable way to do this. Here is the problem. I dont know how to use it :D I have ipowerweb as my host and they have a download database backup in their control panel. Is this the same thing? Or should I still use the telnet feature. Can someone please explain this to me on AIM or something what to do. I'm still new to this whole vbulletin thing. Please help me out in anyway you can. My AIM and YIM names are both fredsmooth21

easiest way to back up the database is to use the 'Backup database' topic in your admincp. You can just download it to your local machine as an sql file that has everything included in it... works for me

sweet man now is this the ipowerweb admin cp or the vbulletin? Or does it matter? I have a forums.gz file on my computer that i just downloaded off the ipowerweb control panel. It said it was a backup of the database. If its cool then its easier than i though.
