What's the install button for?

When I browse the hack thread there is an INSTALL button. Can somebody tell me what exactly it does?

It logs who has installed each hack. When things are fully functional, it also creates an email list so that if the hack is updated, people who have installed it will be notified.

Plus, it helps you keep track of the hacks you have installed so that you can find them again if you need to reinstall after an upgrade.
