My site has just died... I was cleaning up some hacks I didn't want anymore - which went fine incidently, then decided to remove vbportal from the site as it really isn't working out as well as I'd hoped... only for vbportals' uninstall file to either mess up or purposely remove a file I needed :eek: Now I have no forums as all I get is a sql error message telling me it's looking for a table for vbp-config.. which obviously isn't there anymore cos it was just uninstalled!!!!!!!!!

*sigh* anyway......... If I delete the whole forum folder from my host and put a fresh copy of VB 2.3.2 on there, directing it to the database, will I need to run thru the install process or should I just update the config file with the relevant details and hope it'll find it itself LOL

Or should I just take the plunge and install V3 beta 5? - would that wipe all the extraneous tables from my db left over from the hacks?

Gods I'm soooo ++++ed off!!!! LOL

You need to edit global.php and a couple of other PHP files to remove the references to vBPortal and you should be fine. Read the install instructions for vBPortal and reverse the changes.

Yup, I did all that.. went thru and removed all the edits vbp asked to be, ran the uninstall that they supplied too..... didn't work..... I don't think it's vbp problem mind you.... it's more likely me LOL .... it got to the point where I just scrapped it and rebuilt with a fresh database and lots of grovelling to my existing members ROFL... still have the database tho, so if anyone has any way of moving the members and threads across from it to a new one.. I'd be ecstatic *grin*
