I've barely even touched my vB3 files... Though I have written quite a few scripts using vB3's functions, database, and etc. ;)

Ahhh vB3 code . . .
So nice to hack on. Tho it's only in beta not much will change from beta 5 to RC if it goes like that. Right now it seems all they are doing is killing bugs.

I don't think they will go from BETA 5 to RC, I heard BETA 6 was coming including the WYSIWYG2 editor.

Anything exciting? :D
Alot of them are just ports from existing hacks:
vBsite - web portal
vBindex - half done, web portal
/me code
Support forum
Forums as columns
Total time online
Pre post messages for certain users
Users style in postbit
User selectable date format
Style dropdown
New posts/threads since last visit
Signature limits
vB2 Style ACP Navagation
Microstats
Ban users from using smilies
Hacked archive to use URLs like Skuzzy's
Default avatars
Change do, f, p etc in the URLs to the long version (action, forumid, postid etc)
Thats most of the things I've done by hacking, as well as a few template edits using conditionals that would have been hacks before.

Microstats . . . . This will be intresting who releases it. So many people are doing it :s

Seeing as my other thread on vB3 was closed, and this is still open, can I fire a question at you guys?
I integrate vB with my site on a few levels, one thing I do is include global.php form all pages so I can call on certain vB functions.
What this has always meant is I include all my site users (even those not on the forum) in the 'users online' section at the foot of the forum index page, however, since updating to vB3 (beta 5), only users on my forum show online, not users elswhere on the site.
I've tried, but cant get them back in those online figures.
Could anyone give me a clue/some advice on how to get them included in the figures, even with location 'unknown' in who's online, I dont care about that, just like them back included.
Thank in advance.
Paul

Please do not post technical vB3 questions. I've already told you why publicly and in PMs.

If that' directed at me, you haven't really said why. Maybe there's a thread I'm missing, but on the front page it says:
Users with a valid license can immediately download it, and install it on their boards. As because of it's a BETA release there won't be official support via the support ticket system. Also as it wouldn't help the developers to find bug if you'll start on hacking, vBulletin.org decided not to allow any vB3 hacks until it's in RC state.
We hope you all understand why we are doing so, and please cooperate.
I'm not posting a hack or requesting a hack, just asking for some hacking advice from fellow vB3 Beta users!
If you're taking it further than outlined there, then could someone tell me somewhere where we can talk about vB3 'safely'?
Thanks

I've posted a few things at vBulletin.com and they've been very helpful, even with hack stuff(!?), but as this is pure hack stuff I thought I'd come here first.
I'll checkout .nl, thanks.
Shame we cant discuss it here, there's obviously going to be a growing urge to do so!

Maybe not even there, I think they only want talk about template mod's.
Hacking a vbulletin 3 is considered a bug trouble.
If you hack in wrong place then bug them about a bug (that you cause) it puts a wrench in the works.
Best bet IMO if you are unsure what you are doing with vb3. Do not hack it :)

I've already hacked it a-plenty thanks, and I wont report hack related bugs, because I've stuck to stuff I'm comfortable hacking. Not sure on this, which is why I came to my favourite vB hacking site to ask about it.

TIP: global.php is called slightly differently now, as are the functions. You need to look at other vB3 PHP files to see how it's done. :)

I figured that much, just haven't worked out how it works it out... if you see what I mean.
Thanks for answering me and not telling me off though. ;)
If anyone has worked it out, could PM me instead of risking scourn by posting it on here. ;)
I mean, I can get the output on any page, and my gallery and chat (and template) hack still work, but it's getting people online elsewhere on the site to count that seems to not be working.
Thanks again, I'll do it somehow....

Steve ya muppet, wrong choice of words. vB3 hack is not SUPPORTED HERE till RC... not not allowed, your making it sound like anyone who does it is an outcast

Yes, but there are a few who want to know that who are not as "intellectual" as you :p when it comes to PHP.

Quite a few people are used to it for one... Secondly... i dont like it, Filburt has to use short names in his signature.. and first i wondered if t standed for telephone, then i realised its not enogh numbers etc. Its just confusing. its like calling the smillies box 'S Box'.

Go on, do me a favour here and let me in. I thought this forum was for sharing ideas etc. no winding up some poor guy who's spending far too long banging his head on a wall trying to do what I'm sure should be a simple little mod......
Thanks.

Im not hacking my board till RC to be honest. Who knows there could be a huge change that one of the dev team have accidently missed.

I highley doubt it. A huge change would be to change the basic codeing under it all. Then it would be like restarting beta.

SmEdD's right, any major changes are highly unlikely. More likley big bug fixes.

Regarding the online thing, I was being stupid, I fixed it myself so all pages are included with no vBullletin code hacking.
Nice to be back up again with my 'online' numbers.
