View Full Version : Blank index.html file acts like .htaccess..?

I've been meaning to question this, as I've noticed it before.

vBulletin places blank index.html files in the directories that you can't simply access through URL, such as "includes."

But this file is blank, according to my text editor.

So, how does it protect the directory like an .htaccess thing would? :speechless:

Because if there is no blank index.html in a web-accessible directory, a guest can see all the files in that directory, and access each one by putting that directory as a URL. :)

But some sites don't have it. Mine came with it for folders so noone can open a whole folder and take a peak ;)
