we recently had trouble with a member on our board and were forced to ban him.
Since then our "who's online" has shown a ton of "guests" online, way more than usual, doing some really random stuff.
do any of you know of a prog or something that can try to wreak havoc like that. or know of anything we can do to find out where they're coming from?
all the unregistered/not logged in usergroups are set to not even be able to view the board or do anything.
just curious if anyone else here had seen anything like this.

Are you sure the "guests" aren't search bots?

There is a hack here which tells you whether the guests on who's online are spiders or not :)

do you know the name of the hack by any chance?
and yeah i guess the guest could be spiders but why would so many be coming all of the sudden?
also i have all the permissions set so that unregistered/not logged in can't see the threads or the forums or anything. so it's just kind of confusing to me when it shows a guest viewing a certain thread or reporting a post.

There is one in Teck's search engine archive. :)

It will say that whether or not they are actually doing any of those things. It just means that they are on that page, who's online will say the same thing regardless. When we close our forum, it shows a bunch of people browsing the board, viewing threads, etc, when they are just seeing the error message. :)
