View Full Version : NUKE? I know asked 1000 times -but I am not clear
I want to run Vbulletin as forums and I want to run phpnuke as the portal.
Can this be done ?
If so can it be done with 1 logon?
Is there a functioning demo of vbportal somewhere?
Ahhh - too many choices.
Thanks for any help.
Anyone? At the risk of being impatiet - I did email the vbportal people several days ago...
Thanks

Im pretty sure u can use phpnuke as ya portal, Cant say so for sure tho as ive never done it myself, Why not just use a VB portal?
Ohhh I guess because I already have a phpnuke installed and I like the look and feel of that .. because it matches my online store... so you really don't feel like you've left one software to another. I know that may just be a template thing - but I have not seen a demo of the admin for vbportal - so I have no idea what it looks like.
Are there other portals for vbulletin that offer more (or as much) as vbportal?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers

errm isnt Vbportal the one u gotta pay 4?? If so, then jus go download the other versions of portals on this site in the hack section, i think theres about 3 portals. Dats if ur a registered user :P:P
Nope I have not purchased vbulletin yet - I don't want to drop the money unless Im sure I can do what I want to do. Don't get me wrong - the issue isent do I like vbulletin - I do - the issue is can I "plug it in"
If I felt convinced I could create something I like Id move forward. Are there any demos of the hacks/portals you speak of?
Thanks again!
Cheers!

Why not use a real CMS. If your going to use a nuke use PostNuke.

I will have a working version of PHPNuke for VB3 within the week. You can view the actual progress here:
http://portal.daily-web.info/
I'm not sure, but I think this will be the first VB3 compatible portal. I'm also recoding PHPNuke from a single portal page to a multi-paged portal. The page content will change depending on the portalid tag. Along with that, I will integrate pMachine by including pMachine blocks with the release.
Actually that looks kinda like exactly what I want. When will it be done!? :)
Am I in violation of anything if I give a developer a copy of nuke 6.7 if I want them to make it work with vbulletin?

I should have it done by next weekend. VB3's datastore table make life so much easier. Whoever thought up that one was a genius.
Not sure if you'd be violating anything or not. PHPNuke is GPL, but they haven't released it to the world yet, only to the club. But they WILL release it to everyone else in the next 30 days.
Let me put it this way. Everything I have done has been through blocks, only adding three queries (so far) to mainfile.php and a few lines of code. There is no reason I can think of why it won't work with ver 6.7.
Ohhh a developer whos telepathic. I'm in!! :D
I know I'm new to the phpnuke, vbulletin, and the run a website thing, but I'm not new to the net, coding, etc... and I really can't believe someone hasent done this yet...... ??? <scratching head>
Should I bookmark your page? Register? My site is relatively new - would you like a beta tester that isent going to loose gobs of money if something messes up?
There is something different in 6.7's database than from 6.5. I had 6.5 installed... (I don't have telnet) and in frustration I just deleted it and installed 6.7 from scratch. I did this because .. well I had them both installed and I looked at the tables and there was 1 less table in 6.7.
Everything is working. Even those gawd awful phpbb forums. I want VB!

Bookmark my site and watch it get built up over the next week as I integrate VB3 and PHPNuke.
BTW, not even bothering to user PHPNuke's user table. It will use VB3 to check user user validity.
Hey I registered at your site ..
Do I need to create a seperate forums ID?
Thanks!

I checked out your site. Very nice integration. I'm interested in doing the same with my site. Is this available yet as a download? Keep up the good work.

personally IMO phpnuke and postnuke both are very rather crapy scripts in comparsion to vbulletin , vBadvanced will be a CMS fully intergrated into vbulletin and 100% powered by it :)
for more info on vBadvanced checkout vbulletin.nl :)

While you might be right, and I have a feeling this is a sales pitch on your behalf, I like what phpnuke has to offer as far as my site is concerned and am looking to integrate vB3 into it.

i was orignally looking at the them for my site to use as a cms, however after i used phpportals script i was disgusted with how inefficent it was in comparsaion to vbulletin. i suggest vBadvacned, beacause its as powerfull as vb it self, its free like phpnuke or postnuke, but it isnt as bogged down with crappy coding >.>
