Well, while creating my spider IP-Hack, I've tweaked the IP-scanning fron the banip-function, so it's much faster now.

I'm using it for the IP-banning function in order to reduce server load, since we're banning a huge list of proxy-IPs from our forums. A single user won't recognize anything, but this could reduce server-load a little.

PS: I would be happy, if you only click install, if you really installed it. I need to know who is using it and I need some feedback from user, that really use it.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I've copy&pasted the wrong piece of code into the find-part.

Please rehack.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

So this just increases the speed of the ip banning check?

Yes. If you have IP banning turned on, that is.

A single user won't recognize any difference, but this could reduce server load on a busy forum with a big list of banned IPs.

It's useless if you have IP-banning turned off or a small forum.

When I created my Spiderip-hack, I've first used a slightly modified version of the IP-Banning function of vB2, but this was quite slow, so I tweak it (same tweak used for this 'hack') and it (online.php with the spiders listed there) was much faster.

And since were using a big list of banned IPs, I've applied it for IP-Banning as well. If you have a small forum with only a handful of banned IPs, you probably won't recognize any difference and a single user won't recognize a difference as well. But with a bigger amount of users and/or a big amount of banned IPs, you should recognize, that the serverload has been reduced.
