Useful if PM abuse has been reported, this hack will save a copy of every PM sent to and from selected users to the PM Inbox of an admin or user of your choice :)

While i know it's possible to read the PMs sent by people using something like phpmyadmin, this is quicker plus users don't always save PMs meaning you don't have a copy you can look over if you need to.

Let me know if you have any problems, or suggestions to make this hack better (i've already got a few things i'd like to change ;) )

In your instructions you don't say what file to open and edit

Hmmm...

I would presume he means private.php...

I already have a system like this installed that will e-mail the pms to whatever userid you specify. Might be useful to save them to a separate table in the db instead of getting them all mixed up with someone's own pms. That way, if you want to send them to more than one userid, you don't have to duplicate the pms for each userid. They can read them all from the same table. Does that make any sense?

Though the codes are different so.. *shrugs*
Nice work :)

This is a good idea in theory but if you have a big board then the admin's PM limit is going to exceed within hours. On my board i have about 150 pm's sent per day... So you can imagine how much this would clog up my inbox ;)

The Admin doesn't have a PM limit.

Of course I'm partial but I like my concept better because users don't have to report abuse in the first place. I even busted one spammer on WDF because of it. :)

Thanks for the link. I like the idea better than this hack :)
I wrote it roughly after being told about one user "abusing the system" so there is a lot of room for improvement !

Plus i didn't actually write any PM quota checks in for the person the PMs are logged to so the pm is inserted regardless :o
