trying to do a simple query

first of all, I've had no luck with the $DB_SITE command, it's given me nothing but problems for the query I want to do.

I have replaced :


$DB_site->query("INSERT INTO post (postid,threadid,title,username,userid,dateline,at tachmentid,pagetext,allowsmilie,showsignature,ipad dress,iconid,visible) VALUES (NULL,'$threadid','".addslashes(htmlspecialchars($title))."','".addslashes($postusername)."','$bbuserinfo[userid]','".time()."','$attachmentid','".addslashes($message)."','$allowsmilie','$signature','$ipaddress','$iconi d','$visible')");

in newreply.php with the following :

$creditquery = "UPDATE sc_reviewaccounts SET posts=posts+1 WHERE userid='$myuserid'";

so as to reward a user one credit each time they reply to a post.

but... check this weirdness out! this is the SQL error i get :

and i get the following error :

Database error in vBulletin 2.2.9:

Invalid SQL: SELECT title FROM thread WHERE threadid=
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1

mysql error number: 1064

that is what is very strange. THERE IS no occurance of

SELECT title FROM thread WHERE threadid=


anywhere in newreply.php at all!

Because the conditions and arguments are variables.

Anyways, I can't even find that in my newreply.php

You don't need to make a connection to the db as it's already there...

then what the heck do i do? I've tried using the DB_SITE technique, but it NEVER works, at least for what i am trying to do.

Show us what you tried to do using the $DB_site method (the query including $DB_site).
