Is there a VBulletin for free? Why exactly do we have to pay just to download a Hack or Install a Software? I asked that question to Vbulletin.com & they said that it's because of the Customer Support. But what if we dont need customer support?

Also what is VBulletin Lite is that FREE?

I really like VBulletin. But Im a student that cannot pay that ammount of money.& it's Yearly! I would understand if it were ONCE IN A LIFE TIME.I know I sound kinda crazy or stupid. But I think VBulletin in order to attract more customers they shoud be open to different opinions, risks & making their services or scripts available to everyone not for a few.

Jelsoft is a business. Like all businesses, they must make a profit to survive. If you can't afford the cost of vBulletin, you should use a freely available alternative such as Invision or phpBB.

Also, you CAN purchase vBulletin with a one-time payment, but you just don't get any support or are able to download hacks, files, etc. unless you renew it.

Why can't I get Windows XP for free, now that you mention it? Or my car? Or my house? I need a place to live you know. :) You see, Jelsoft is a business, and the programmers of vBulletin need to eat and support their family you know. :)

There are a lot of people who did, which, of course, is illegal.

I'm theoretically going to get it for free for filling out a MS Developer survey. I can also get it and other MS stuff at school (CDs only) ranging from $10 (Office X) to $25 (VS.net) at school.

I understand that Jelsoft has to make money - but Invision makes mony too - they are a company too.

They don't charge for the forums - and give free basic support - yet still seem to have a quick dev cycle.

It has been said many times, and I'll say it again: if you don't want to buy vBulletin, you could always use an alternative like Invision, or phpBB ;)
