Hi there...
I have Vbulletin V.2.2.9 with some hacks, and recently the forum has been attacked.... again
i attached a file showing the attack message in another forum.
The User MartL registered, and posted 100 messages +- in 5 minutes in all foruns.
After some investigation i found that this user started to attack after a post of a normal user, in this casa Flyer.
This User (Flyer) posted a normal message in 2 different boards and the user Martl started the attack. I think that it started by the Flyer computer as a Virus..
Do you guys have any info on this ???
Again: it happened in 2 different boards but always after the same user.

Your forum is not hacked. It is a bot that's registering and posting messages.
To read more have a look at www.vbulletin.com 's post under off topic regarding the porn spammer.
You can upgrade to vb2.3.0 this stops them. I myself added the email extensions to the blocked users list and have had no problem since.
Hope this helps
Craig

It's the nasty porn spammer bots at work. Upgrade to 2.3.0 like Craig said. :)
yes... but it sucks to do the upgrade with all the hacks we have instaled :(

Well at least the nasty porn spammer uses happy emoticons ;)
Remember when you upgrade to revert your registration templates so image verification works properly.

i have Store hack, Proarcade, ShoutBox, Invite a Friend, Forum Stats installed in the board..
if there were a easy way to upgrade to v.2.30 without having to uninstall the hacks, and install them again, i propably would do it.. but theres no support for this, so i prefer to keep the hacks installed and the verson in 2.2.9
I have installed another hack : Image Registration to try to prevent automatic registrations.. do you think this will do ??
Why tha hell this things just happen in vbb boards ??
2 portuguese boards were attacked, both with Vbb, and no phpBB, or other kind of board is attacked ...!!!???!!!

I reverted the template on vb 2.3.0 and enabled IMAGE validation on VB options, and GD is present and working on my server...
Image validation is not working, ie, not appearing anywhere on the reg. form.
What else could I check?
Thanks!

You are positive you reverted the templates? And you added the template for the image verification bit?

I must admit I just added the $imagevalidation variable (cant remember the exact name) onto my translated registration template, copied exactly from the "view original" template... Yes, the image verification bit is present on the system.

I just did a quick test and reverted to original the register_adult template, and image was not appearing either...
What else could I check?
