View Full Version : Forum uses different template?

sorry the discription to this thread is probably far from what I need and I am almost positive something like this is already out there. i just cant think of what to call it which makes search a little tricky heh. I was wondering how I could go about making a forum look different then other forums like they have done at wiredgamers (http://www.wiredgamers.com) and other forums. I am refuring to the "Gaming Confabulation" forum. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreicate it :)

I think you're referring to 'Forum Skins'. If you're looking for something as modified as that site, you're definetly going to have to hire someone to do it. There are a couple of sites that sell skins. Two I know of are vBskins.com (http://www.vbskins.com) and vBskinz.com (http://www.vbskinz.com).

I think we are talking about two different things. I just would like to make one catigory look different then the others, like they have. I dont really know how better to explain it then comparing it to what wiredgamers has.

You mean that 'Gaming Confabulation' area! I have no idea how to do that. Or what it would be referred to as.

haha yeah its a pretty cool design. I dont think its as revolutionary as the creators would like to think but its still cool. Thanks for tryin to help though ^^. anyone else have an idea maybe?

create a new template set and modify its forumdisplay/thread display categories according to your needs, then apply that style to that forum via Forum/Modify/"Custom style set for this forum" and make it mandatory via "Override users custom styles" set to yes..

Savage, far as I can tell this hack would get you close to what you want. You'll need to modify it to your needs, but... (that's a given).

hmm i might be able to use this, i just thought that there was a hack that did exactly this. I thought I had seen it before.. I appreciate everyones help though and if anyone has another idea please let me know
