I've installed most of the optimization hacks I've found, but I wish there were more. I was hoping I could get some kind of optimization hack for the forum and thread displaying. I know a lot can be done to optimize the speed of the forums. Has anyone messed with theirs a lot? Is there any other hacks we can get for optimizing speed?

Try the MYSQL Search hack, in Beta Forums, which does wonders. Also, the Deferred Threadview hack. And the optimizing Dot hack.

By far the best you can do is just not install hacks that you don't absoletely need. vB is designed already to scale to huge sites. Most hacks aren't.

I've already installed the deferred threadview and dot hacks.. but what's the mysql search hack? Does it just optimize searches?

The only hacks I've installed are a few forum home hacks, stats, and the store hack. I don't think the store hack adds that many queries to the thread/forum viewing.. and most of the hacks I've installed don't add queries to thread and forum view files. But I don't plan on installing too many more hacks for that reason though.

hmm, there are possibilities which are not released, like caching some not so often needed values and so on.

vb can be optimized in much points, but sometimes a nearly complete rewrite is needed, and that's to much, as everyone knows vb3 will be much better optimized than vb2 was.
