forum home borders? :)

hey everyone, quick question

i have my vb forum home setup with a top image, and bottom image around each of the forum catagorys, ive been playing with the idea of adding sides to each of them also, ive seen skins with it, so i know its possible, but have no clue of how to do it, been playing with it for a while now, and it never seems to come out good :(
