Not sure how many of you have seen/used blogs, but for a quick explanation anyway, blogs are small online webpages run by usually one person, with personal content (headlines, calendar, hobbies/business stuff, etc.)

This site provides a free blog-software, that is very professional in appearance and implemented with good coding. It uses stylesheets in the design of how the blogs look, and comes supplied with a variety of classy looking templates. Of course design elements can be tweaked by yourself.

What do you think about this software, or just blogs in general?

i'm a big fan of blogs, i'm hoping that loo's vbjournal pro will be a huge step towards that of a blog and from that of a just a journal, the things are fun, but it all really comes down the author as content just rules

I checked out this blog software and it looks really great. My only concern is the fact that it is built on Perl - which is notoriously slow.

Have any of you seen any decent blog software coded in PHP?

I just think that they're the latest trend...they'll go away soon.

filburt1, sorry to say you're wrong.
I'll make my modification of that vbjournal and post it there. I hope it is build on CSS attraibutes, because I hate vb default {firscolor} things - they're really crazy.

It's an opinion. It can't be "wrong."

Blogs are here to stay. Google doesn't make mistakes :p

PHP Blog: www.cafelog.com - is very good. Highly customizable and comes with a lot of features.

I think MoveableType has TOO many features for just a blog. :(

All the techtv stars use movabletype

Chris Pirillo (http://chris.pirillo.com)
Morgan Webb (http://www.morganwebb.com)

I don't know the rest but morgan has most of them listed.

So blogging has become very popular and movabletype seems to be the best choice of most people. Even the Barenakedladies blog!

That font gives a cool theme for Pirillo's blog. :p

I suppose you can modify the vBJournal hack, make it integrate with the calendar hack, add the Custom Page hack, and the User Comment hack, and you have something similar... :)

Just because Chris Pirillo uses and likes blogs doesn't mean anything. Pirillo hails from my town and his opinion doesn't mean squat. He couldn't even keep his job with Tech TV. They dumped him. Blogs are for those that have nothing else to do, sorry to say.

vBulletin is in essence for people who don't have anything else to do. But who cares, as for most of us it's just our hobby, just like blogs are just a hobby for some people.

Because he's a mindless simpleton with the personality of a carrot.
