Post thread icon that only admins can use

Can anyone direct me to a hack that will hide certain post thread icons from the users, while the admins still have full access to all available post icons? I need it to be able to refer back to my sql database and check against a criteria for whether its available or not to the user. Thanx

Check my profile if you are comfortable running queries, etc. If you need a control panel interface, my hack doesn't have that.
