I'm wondering if it would be possible at all to send notifications not only to email addresses, but also to ICQ, MSN or other messengers?

That way, a moderator or admin can take action (moderate) when they get instantly notified by their favorite messenger, when a new post/thread is made, or a specific user shows up.

I guess a special MSN/ICQ/... user needs to be created, in order for the forum to send out IM messages.

MSN can already supposedly do something similar to this, but I've never seen any PHP implementation of the AIM protocol.

I now have a ICQ version of report Post working on my forum.

The user selects report post, from which there now shown a dropdown menu where they can select either "send via ICQ" or "send via email" once the user makes there selection for ICQ it opens a new window with a dropdown menu of users to send the report to (You can only send msg to one person at a time not multiple) once the user selects the person they are sending msg to, they are then redirected to a "reason" box, the user inputs the reason why there reporting the post and clicks "send Message".

The Admin/Mod then recieve the message when they join ICQ. the message is sent in this format

Your Forum Title(Reported Post)
Subject: http://site.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=xx has been reported by {user reporting}
Reason: the reason goes here.

I am having a small problem tho which if anyone can help with ill be grateful. basically on the page where the user selects who to send the icq to i tried to get the script to automatically fill in all the moderators using a database query, i got this to work but the dropdown menu only showed One moderator not all moderators.

the option field looks like this
<option value"$icqnumber">$username</option>
$icq number is extracted from $bbuserinfo[icq] field

Any help appreciated.
please note i am using templates for this hack also rather than one indiviual scipt

If you would like the code at the moment where you have to manually add your mods/admin icq numbers and usernames feel free to pm me or post here and ill release it in beta forum
