Note: Own, and not admin. Administrating a forum is completely different from owning it, being just an administrator means you must have a high level of participance or activity.

I think it's quite sad how on many forums, the owner doesn't participate often. It really does reflect on the type/quality of the community sometimes.

On my forum [..that I own], I post at least 10 times a day. The members know who I am well, and know that the place HAS an owner, and WHO the owner IS! Another sad fact is that on many forums, people don't know who the owner is, and even if they do, have never seen him/her post.

I think it's important for an owner to be highly active and participate in his/her community, as it builds a better atmosphere and the members will feel more informed and in-touch, and know that the place is under control.

However, I'm 10th on the top posters list on my forum, :(, that's one place where I got cut short, I was first for a while but then everyone just over-took me =/

Well, I have over 3100 posts, so my members know I'm there, and everyone knows that I'm the owner, and I actively participate so they can get to know me.

So how about you?

Yes; I have the most posts and it's a handful for me and my two mods to run.

Technically, I own the board because I pay the bills and the income comes to me to cover part of those bills. However, our forum began as a team effort. Therefore, we are all pretty darn active on the forums. I think active management makes the difference between a dead board and a live one.

I'm pretty far from being the top poster at my site. Our top poster has over 7,000 posts while I have about 1,300. My excuse is that I'm always busy improving the site so I don't have as much time to post. ;)

Here at vB.org I try to be as active as possible.

At my private forums, I post lots in the Staff forums, but I tend to just manage the server and software, and manage my staff of 54 moderators. :)

I think I put more time into the places I moderate (vBT, lol) instead of the forums I help or co-own at (Don't own anything on my own currently) but I manage it quite well. :)

The forum i own is a test board, and i'm on it frequently. But I don't post much :D The only place I really post actively is Velocd's forum.

I am most active on vB.org, CheatingDome, and a new site I'm helping to make...

But I still find time to visit my own forum;)
