Description
If you think like me, you've already created a Trash Bin forum and perhaps a Holding Pen forum to allow your Moderators to discuss the fate of threads before they reach the Trash Bin. So I've taken the liberty of adding a simple link in the postbit to allow Moderators, Super Moderators and Administrators to automatically and quickly move a specific thread to a specific form, preferably a private forum.

Excellent, thanks very much :).

Installed! Great! One thing though. When I leave the method blank it uses the copy method rather than the move one as is implied in the text file. No problem though.

Interesting, try method=move
That doesn't work on my version, so I opted for blank. Hope this helps.

Yes, I've done that. It works. It wasn't a problem really. I just thought you'd like to know what the blank setting does (or at least what it does on my board, which is vB 2.3.0).

Ok, thanks. I've made a note of this in the installation instructions.

thats nice.. makes life a lil intereting.. I do have a private section to move trash to it before we give it the last kick
I like the blank method, that way you just copy it and then you can edit the original post to add your comment or what have you
I have yet to look at this hack but I am sure I will be in next 3 to 15 minuts :)
thnx

Hey I know this may sound like a stupid question but I am new to all this: How or what do I need to open the recyclethread.rar attachment file. While I have successfully downloaded the file to my harddrive, am unable to open it and am unfamiliar with "rar" file type. What program do I need?

SHalliday, I suggest downloading WinRAR (http://download.com.com/3000-2250-10184892.html) ;)

Bira created a hack to move posts to other threads a while ago. It works with the merge thread option.

Good hack!:)
I have attached a .zip file so that non WinRAR users do not have to download it;):)

Jon, is there a way to leave a reason in the forum after moving the thread? Like a move-redirect. Maybe an option in the code for something like "This thread has been removed for review"?

Does it need to be zipped? It's just a .txt...
Either way, nice hack. Exactly what I've been looking for ;D

That's definitely an idea worth looking into. Perhaps some sort of method to alter $thread['movedprefix'] in forumdisplay.php or simply adding a message as a new line under that portion of code might be sufficient.
