profile redirect /forums/username

Is there a hack that allow user to call their profile page by

http://www.domain.com/forums/username

and it will redirect to ther member page?

It can be done via a .htaccess file, however users with nonalphanumeric usernames (except for underscores, dots, and spaces) would not be pretty.

can you supply a sample code of .htaccess if you dont mind :) i'm a bit lost with htaccess handling :(
