View Full Version : No Encrypted Hacks Allowed at vB.org

After much deliberation between admins and mods, we have decided the following:
Hacks must not be encrypted and the source code hidden using ZEND or other methods.
Reasons:
1) This is an open-source hack website.
2) Members are here to learn from each other's hacks.
3) There is a risk of authors deliberately putting in easter eggs, trojans, worms, loopholes etc.
4) There is no way of debugging the hack if it conflicts with other hacks or vB.
Exceptions may be made for exceptional hacks - please contact the forum moderator if you wish to release an encrypted hack.

I've never seen an encrypted hack here Erwin, did someone post an encrypted one on the full releases forum?
Anyway, it's a very good idea :)

Somebody did, yes, but the matter has been taken care of.

I really don't think ANY exceptions should be made. :)
I'm glad it's been outlawed. :)

The safer the better, don't want to fall victim to any of these.

There won't be exceptions except in extreme circumstances and when explicitly made by the mod of the hacks forums.

Maybe so but it's up to the admins and the mod for Full Releases to decide.

we won't give exceptions normally, but it can be possible.
important would be, that the sourcecode is released to the admin/mod of the forum.
But normally there won't be exceptions and we don't have any right now.

In life, you can never say never... (and that statement is a paradox).

Yes, because you have no idea what it'll do when you use it.
