Is there any way to possibly downgrade to vB 2.2.8 from vB 2.3.0 without having to reinstall everything?

Don't do it; the only thing that will happen is that hackers around the world will rejoice.

The thing really busting my ass is my vB, cause 1, the avatar won't be uploaded or set through Admin CP for my partner's account, and 2, the Quick reply doesn't work. This has been up for the first day since it ++++ed up, all ready we're encountering problems.

Reinstall all hacks one at a time; stock vB 2.3.0 doesn't have these problems.

I only PUT one hack.

Then it should be pretty easy to try again.

Blah. All right.

What about the Avatar issue?

I just finished completely removing Firefly's Quick Reply hack. I waited 5 - 10 minutes, then tried reinstalling it from scratch. Finished, and got the same problem. Maybe it's the way I'm doing it, I don't think so, though.

Upload the UNHACKED PHP files for 2.3.0 - there's no way it won't work. Then add the hacks you want carefully.

How can I upload it, and where can I find these? On the vBulletin.com website? Can someone pinpoint me?

Erwin

go to vBulletin.com, click on members, enter your license number and password. You should know, didn't you say you want to downgrade?

Yes, I didn't have the files until yesterday, and they're not the ones I expected to have.

You probably haven't noticed. I'm not a programmer like the half of you. I need some help.

Treat it as a fresh install.

There are clear instructions in the members area telling you what to upload, what files to run. Once it's all installed and working, then worry about the hacks.

I'm looking around, I'm not finding these downloadable files.

<a href="http://www.vbulletin.com/members/" target="_blank">http://www.vbulletin.com/members/</a>

Enter your license number and password there.

No offense or anything, but NEWBIE doesn't mean complete idiot. I know where the members area is. I just DON'T SEE A LINK THAT SAYS "Download UNHACKED PHP Files" anywhere IN the members area.

all the files in the members area are unhacked

Super Shadow

The files I downloaded were unhacked, then.

What the hell am I wasting my life away for?

Uh... shouldn't it be obvious that the 2.3.0 files from vB.com would be unhacked? Jelsoft does not hack vB for you. :)

Like I said, use those files, reinstall an UNHACKED vB 2.3.0 following the instructions, then reapply the hacks.

So I gotta completely reinstall everything?

This is what happens when you upgrade.

The alternative is to use a file compare program like Araxis Merge or Beyond Compare.

Super Shadow

I didn't WANNA upgrade. In fact, I didn't. I just installed the vB 2.3.0 from scratch, with nothing vB related inside my FTP.

What did you think you were doing when you installed 2.3.0??? That is an upgrade.

Super Shadow

See, again. I CANNOT FIND THE 2.2.8 version!

Erwin
04-07-2003, 01:53 AM
2.3.0 is the only version you can download. Why would you want the 2.2.8 version?

Did you back up your forums before you did whatever you were trying to do?

mr e

just upload 2.3.0 agian and overwrite all of the files, then add the quick reply hack

He has only installed Quick Reply, and he is having issues with the avatars in the admin CP.

Kinda reminds me of the time I installed 2.2.9 on my old, sorry server and it spit out blank pages 100% of the time, then uploaded the 2.2.7 files and it worked perfectly. Both sets of files were unhacked.

Link i bet you forgot to upload the vbulletin.style ;)

Nope.

The only file that worked was install.php, and it sucessfully installed it. But I got a blank page everywhere.

I uploaded the 2.2.7 files, and WITHOUT re-installing, or anything of the like, it worked. In fact, I am still using the 2.2.7 files with a 2.2.9 database.
