View Full Version : [ANSWERED] Not allowed to post in Service Requests?
I cannot reply in this forum:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?forumid=30
Can you please explain to me why? Thank you.

You can only reply to your own threads in there.

It's so that people don't solicitate their services by saying: "Contact me here" :)

I have mixed feelings about it though; your point is the first one, my other one is to ask questions publicly so that many people don't have to contact the original poster with the same question many times.

It's a SERVICE REQUEST forum.
People can post REQUESTS in it.
People who want to OFFER services can contact the requester directly - no need to post replies in it as people can use these replies to advertise their services.
Good point, it makes sense. Thanks guys. :)
However, I think the best way to do this is to allow posting on it but viewed only be the thread starter. So others will not see nothing.
Example:
Someone starts a thread. People respond. Only the thread starter can see what others posted.
This is way better then PM's and you don't have to referr all the time to links through the PM's. Not to mention that is extremly easy to mod into VB this new feature, in admin CP. ;)

we've decided not to hack this feature in, because there came up a few problems:
hacking of more than just on file (search, forumdisplay, newreply, printthread...)
and answers of the author would be visible to all users, even if they don't see the normal posters, which could strongly confuse them...
