I am not sure this would actually be a hack.. Maybe there is a script out there that covers this.. I don't know so I thought I would ask all of you.

I would like to offer donating members at two or three of my vb communities some more features. I already use In-Link, PhotoPost and will soon be adding HiveMail to at least one of them. What I would really like to do is be able to offer these members basic web hosting on my dedicated server. Yes, I can create the accounts, or add them as sub domains manually, but I don't want to do that.. I would really like something where donating members could automatically be given webspace. Sort of like Geocities (etc). Has anyone looked into this? Would this even be under the scope of a hack?

Thanks,
David

The only thing I've seen which could do this is vBweb (http://www.incursio.com/support/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=21), but I don't think it's going to be released for a long time.

Thanks for the info.. Yeah, it looks like it isn't a top priority for completion. After looking through the thread, they make mention of WebUmake - http://www.webumake.com/ - but the people who said they use it didn't sound very positive about service with that company.
Anyone here using WebUmake? Any other options?
Thanks again,
David

I'm looking for the same type of service. So far, WebUMake is the best looking I have found, but those bad reviews on Incursio made me nervous. Here are a few listed in cgiresources:

http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Homepage_Communities/

Some of them are old, don't even have a website or just don't offer what we are looking for. And the other is...well.....$599! At least WebUMake has 29 votes and is 9.68, so it can't be THAT bad. I'll probably go with it unless someone else jumps in here with an idea, I'll let you know how it goes (if you remind me!).

Darren, this makes three different boards where you and I have posted on the same thread! Are you following me?? Or am I following you?? :)

I've been looking for something like this for the past few weeks. Maybe we could ask in the service request forums and split the bill....
