10 Latest Posts on Index?

Hello all

I have a request please, now this might have already been done and I think it has on one of the vb home hacks but what I would like to do is make a 'Latests Posts' type addition to my index of my website, and also a few other sites I run.

I just want to display about 10 latest threads on my homepage and for it to automaticly update itself now and again.

Is there a stand alone hack I can use? Thank you.
