There is a new forum at vB.org called Service Requests.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?forumid=30

This is because there are a lot of posts requesting services, and there is no real place to put them. The rules of this new forum is listed below:

Service Request Forum Rules

1) This forum is opened to all licensed vB owner members for the request of paid/ voluntary assistance for the following:

a) Code hackers
b) Programmers
c) Graphic artists
d) Style designers
e) Webmasters
f) Forum hosts
g) Any other internet/ forum/ hosting services

2) Only the Service Requester can post in this forum, and include contact information like website URL, email address, ICQ/ IM numbers. Please do not post private information like telephone numbers or addresses.

3) People who can help with the request must PM or email the requester via the forums or using the posted contact information. Do not reply in the thread with prices, web links, or email addresses - this is considered advertising. This is a REQUEST forum, not an ADVERTISING forum.

4) This forum is NOT for the following which will be removed:

a) Advertising
b) Spam
c) Web links/ email addresses to service
d) Price lists
e) Recommendations

Examples:

Allowed posts:

I am looking for forum designers. I am willing to pay. Please email me at xxx@yyy.com

NOT allowed (posts like this will be removed, and the poster risks being banned):

I am a web designer. Look at my portfolio here www.xyz.com - I can design a forum for $100. Please email me at xxx@yyy.com for quotes.

Bottom line: This forum is only for REQUESTS and NOT for OFFERS.

Thank you! :)

I'm unable to post in the service request forum for some reason.. Obviously I'm a licensed member if I can access the hacks database from vBulletin.org and my information via vBulletin.com is still valid. Any ideas? ;)

You can't reply to threads but you can make them :)

That would explain my problem ;)

No posting by members seems a little odd though.. (considering mods can post). Only the one who creates the thread can reply? What if people have questions, isn't it more convienant to answer them in the post, and not via PM's, if it's a global question.

i agree on that.
the setup of this system got me confused for some mins too ;)

We are currently considering the "perfect" permission system for that, so feedback is welcome :)

Hmm...Sounds like a good idea...

The "perfect" permission system...

Perhaps, in the post, a tickbox that says something like "Allow users to reply?"...

That way the thread starter could decide whether he/she wants the thread to be replied to or not;)

Maybe they can just mention - PM me if interested instead being the easier way out. ;)
