View Full Version : how do I get vb3 beta?
I saw an announcement at vb.com that said the vb3 public beta was now available. I just bought a new license (second one in the works) so I could I could grab the beta and see whats new, see what I need to hack, and start re-building my 2 sites based to the new vb3 code. That way when vb3 was officially released, I'd be ready to go. Unfortunately, I can't find anything in the members area. Am I missing something? Can someone help me out? I really want to get my hands on it and start hacking the hell out of it.

No... It says the Private Beta has begun. ;)
From what they've said before the public beta should be out in about a month or so, but obviously there's no kind of guarantee on that.
:(
I guess it's too late to get in on the private beta. who do I have to butter up to?

They didn't want hackers for the private beta.

I haven't even got my private beta yet, so I don't think it's out yet... :) Wait for it... after private will come public soon...

What is suppose to be so much better ?
I fear having to try to re-add hacks and everything I am now trying to put in.
My whole site is based on vbcode so I wanted to started rebuilding my scripts and see what hacks are included and which need to be added. I just want to be able to rebuild the rest of my addon scripts. Sortof get a jump on the gun when the offical code comes out. I have an opening in my schedule and now wouldbe the perfect time to start rewriting from stratch using the new functions. Some of my old code is junky :) I was still learning php then and I've been just waiting for vb3 as an excuse to redo it all. I guess I'm stuck waiting again.

I feel your pain..I write alot of scripts for clans and really wanted to get a head start as I am particulary excited about the conditional templates etc...Hopefully the public beta will be soon as I heard from a few people that the private beta is doing very well.

Well, you all have to wait.
It's just the private bugfixing betatest, so hacks could be even bad for finding the bugs...
but i'm sure some of the betatesters could answer your questions about integration into the site..

vbulletintemplates.com is running the private beta. The new style colors are nicer than the purple. but vb3 is far to cluttered and messy inmy opinion. How annoying having to click a quick reply button to reply.
Not to mention I got lost on a vbulletin board for the first time.

the style isn't final!!!!!
also the QR can be optimized from within the acp to not have to click before..

meh, i doubt i'll upgrade to vB3 right away, i'll probibly run it locally first and wait till it's went through a few upgrades, vB3 looks too squished together for my liking, so i'm just gonna sit back with vB2 till hacks and mods become obselete for it, the only thing i'm looking forward to about vB3 is the admin cp arrangement and the templating, but hopefully it will be easy to remove such features as the button clicking for quick reply, and the threaded and hybrid view, thats a sin to vBulletin IMO
