? I want to show a single post

If I wanted to show someone a single post say the 40th of 200 posts, and not the rest of the thread is there a syntax I can add to let tthem look at a single post?

I know how to direct a viewer to a particular post, but I would like to be able to direct an unregistered viewer to a single post, and not have them see any portion of the rest of the thread.
