Many of my members use the more popular IM clients but there's no way 'at a glance' to see who's online unless you see their icon in a post...
I'd like to have a hack where members can see a full list of "who's online for Yahoo", "who's online for AIM", etc...
IE: I'd like to have a list like THIS (http://members.yahoo.com/interests/anti_survivor-1602807591) on my board for each of the IM clients that vB supports.
I SURE hope someone can do this.

Nice idea... But Im not sure whether its much better than what you would get through looking at the "Who's online"...
eg http://www.sizematters.com.au/forums/online.php
If you want more you could probably easily modify online.php to show which users also have ICQ, Yahoo etc... available and their status...

We have 'who's online' on our board, but my members like to chat and voice chat (which is available on Yahoo's IM).
Plus, the vB 'who's online' only shows us who's on the message board...I'd like for members to be able to see members who are logged into their IM client (regardless of where they are online).
We currently have over 11,000 members, and this feature is one many of them have asked for.

I have gone in the "whosonline" template and removed all the "<!--" and "-->" characters. There was two sets of each. Then I went into the "whosonlinebit" template and removed the same characters which had one of each. I also removed the space between "$ userinfo". Then I brought up the "Whosonline" on my site and it now shows AIM, ICQ, YAHOO in the whosonline screen but it will not show the users that are online with yahoo. In fact it does not seems to work at all. But it does show the place for them. Did I miss something here. It seems to have been put in VB for this reason?
You can view my online status on my test site. This is a test site only. mainetrails.net/forum/online.php (http://mainetrails.net/forum/online.php)
