I have asked this at vbulletin.com, and they refered me here.

Here is my request.

I want the forums to be in the main list of forums viewed. But when it's click by anyone other that a member, it'll pop up a denied message. Right now it's goes into the forums, but simply doesn't show any threads. I have the permissions (for unregistered users) all set to no, but left view forum yes. If set that as well, then the forum is not shown on the main forum list. I believe it's working as it's supposed to, but I have seen something better than what I have.

An example of what I'm talkin about is here

http://mustangcentral.net/mcforums

Try to go into the bad boy rubber room. It's visible, but when click you get an message saying you need to login/register. This is what I want.

How did he do that? I'm running the 2.2.9 version of vbulletin.

I installed it on a test dummy board, and it works. But it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I want the guest to view the entire forum list, and when they click on a forum to see the threads within, they get denied.

The hack I have allows guests into the forums and to view the threads, it simply denies reading the threads. I want the guest stopped as soon as they click on the forum. I'll continue to search for it for the time being.

The link I provided is a great example of what I'm looking for.

Hey I was looking for this exact same thing a few days ago, but with no luck. :( I think that hack mentioned above could possibly be modified to work how you wanted it, but I wouldn't know where to begin... I'll take a look at it and maybe it's an easy modification... :)

I figured it out :) And it didn't even require a hack.

I set all the permissions for the guests to off for my members only forum. This would hide it from everyone who didn't have at least a registered member status.

Then I went into the board options and set the view private forums to yes.

Now the forum is displayed for everyone, but all guests will receive a register/login page.

Yeah, but that only works for mod and admin only forums... right? I wanted to do something like this for other forums, or does this work for all forums?? I'll try it tomorrow and find out I guess lol! :)

It should work for all the forums. At least it did for me.

Im looking for something similar...

I want to lock a certain forum only to certain users (whos post count = x). Is there a way to adapt this?
